HP Pavilion problems with the Pioneer DVD...
I cannot play DVD's or CD's... can anyone help??

- I'm having problems with the Pioneer dvd-rw dvr-ki17 CD drive that came installed on my brand new HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. It is not reading CD's. I I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. It worked once and then stopped working again. When I double-click on the device, it tells me to install a disc and the drive pops open. The computer's under warranty, but I'd rather fix the problem myself if possible. - red71Solution #1

try cleaning the laser lens if you can access it but i guess it is ery hard for laptops. Or maybe you an use an regular CD/DVD lens cleaner try that first. If it doesn't work and stil does the same, then you have to get the drive replaced because such drive rarely being repaird. it has got weak if not defective lens, or maybe motors but as i said this drives rarely being repaired and they always just replace the whole drive. you can eject the DVD/CD drive and get it checked with other Latpops it you have a friend who has one just for testing. thanks red
