Camcorder Battery won't charge

Battery charging light will not come on when plugged in but will play back and rewind tapes. Only used it a few times and stopped using it when the battery would no longer charge. Also tried buying a new battery to see if the old one had worn out and it still does not work.

You know the watch battery that is often held under the screen? That battery is dead.

No Display

Underneath the black battery, when you take it off to charge, there is another small battery compartment it holds a round battery about an inch in diameter. try replacing it. that might be the problem. hope it works out for you.

Battery Charge Light not working & can't display battery info

This sounds similar to a problem I had. I brought the camera in under warranty and the repair shop fixed it. They shop text is cryptic.
Problem: Camera light keeps flashing, not charge
Solution: Troubleshoot to intermittent switch block control, replace with new one, test OK.

Eject light comes on after I start playing the tape

I had the same problem with my camcorder just awhile ago. This can reflect a low battery. Try plugging in the camcorder for a couple of hours without using it. Then try recording or playing back the tape with it plugged in. Unplug it and check again. If this does not work you may have to replace the tape head.

Rewinding the tape stops after a few seconds and eject comes on. Also battery dies in 5 minutes.

It does sound as if your battery is giving up the ghost. How long have you had it? If it's an older type is it a NICAD. If it is perhaps it's built up a memory. Fully discharging and fully recharging 3 or 4 times can sometimes give it more life but if it's geting a bit old maybe a new one is in order. Have you tried using the power supply and bypass the batteries altogether? See if the same fault occurs. The halting rewind could be caused by a slipping clutch or slipping belt, Maybe it's time for a service. But tie the rewind problem to the battery going flat it sure sounds like a dying battery to me. By the way, the charger light isn't saying the battery is good and fully charged, it's merely saying it can't charge the battery any more when the light changes color or goes out or whatever indicates a full charge. LCD won't project

You may have a problem with the image sensor device (CCD). From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue. To see if you have this problem: Power On your camcorder (make sure the battery is fully charged). Check the LCD screen and verify that the display icons are turned on. If you cannot see the icons, press the Display button until the icons are visible. Put a tape in the camcorder. With the lens cap off, record some video. NOTE: Be sure to speak during the recording so the video will contain your voice. Rewind this section of the tape (using tape counter to verify start of your recording). Play back the recorded video and use the LCD screen on the camcorder to view it. You should hear the audio you recorded and the Display icons/text will still appear. If your camcorder is affected by this CCD issue, the picture will either be extremely distorted, or there will be no visible picture (just a blank LCD screen with the display icons still visible).
