Mic not detected

You probably installed the MIC into the wrong connector. Please, verify your mic is on correct/right connector, check you have audio before.

If you don't have audio, install the correct drivers for it.

After you do that, you need to go to audio panel, for that use:

Windows KEY + R, then type: control /name Microsoft.Sound

And now press ENTER/RETURN.

Good luck.

I have an Asus P5QL PRO Motherboard and I'm trying to connect the FP audio and I need some help on how to connect it up properly. On the heaphones lead I have 4 connectors: EAR R EAR L RETURN...

Hi

Pin arrangement for Front panel Audio is usually:

Pin 1 Left MIC-IN Pin 1 right GROUND
Pin 2 Left MIC VVC (or MIC Power, or MIC BIAS) Pin 2 Right empty
Pin 3 Left R EAR (or R OUT) Pin 3 Right R RETURN
Pin 4 Ground or Empty Pin 4 Right empty
Pin 5 Left L EAR (or L OUT) Pin 5 Right L RETURN

This arrangement should apply to both the HD AA/FP or the Standard AC'97 Headers.

I hope this helps

Hello, i recently bought a new motherboard a Gigabyte GA-8I915P for no reason the mic doesn't work, I've already installed the latest audio drivers for this motherboard, the speakers work fine but why...

Maybe it's not recognized. Unplug every audio device, open Realtek HD Audio Manager and start plugging them back one at a time, the manager should automatically detect that something was plugged in a specific port. Just tell it what you have plugged.

Which is the appropriate pin to connect audio out and mic pin

If your CPU is vertical then you have plug your audio pin and mic pin at rear part.
If your CPU is horizontal then try to do this at front part.
And you can also find it as , howmany pins in your cable.

In case your settings change involved installing a new driver try rolling it back. If your pc was upgraded from xp to vista the drivers for the sound card may need to be updated.

Audio

ajayiht22,
If this is the first time you are attempting to use the mic, it must be setup through control panel. Open control panel. Find & open the icon, Sounds and audio decives window will open. Once opened click on the Voice tab. At the bottom of the the window is a button, " Test hardware ". Click it. Follow the instructions from the next few windows. You can not use both front & rear ports at the same time. The ports that work for sound will work for mic once it has been set up.

Microphone

Open system properities. click hardware tab & than device manager. Scoll down to Sound, video & game controller. Do you see a yellow ! point there. That means the driver may need to be reinstalled. Asus is famous for having defective mic controllers & yes the sound works but no mic. You can also open control panel open sound & audio devices. You should have the same device under Audio & Voice. If you do, again your intergrated mic controller is bad. Your manual most likely will not have the correct number to call tech. They moved in 07. So I'll put it in here: 812-282-2787Tech IL Eastern Time. Good luck!
