I recently got a Sansa e280 mp3 player as a gift. I've tried to download songs to it by copying songs to my laptop, using Windows Media Player 11. I have made a sync file, but when I connect my mp3 player to my computer, using the cable that came with it nothing happens. The "Start Sync" button does not light, and as player is not recognized. I've hit the "refresh device" button, and the "device refreshed completion" flashes, but I still can't download my playlist to the player.
when i plug in my usb kabel my sansa player says : ''connected'
But when i go in to my computer , i cant find the sansa clip
so what can i do ?
-   I have plugged in my player using a different computer and it worked fine, now on my own compter when i plug it in it says it cant find the device? came with no software when i bought it, but it did come with a lime wire trial that was supposed to be free for 30 days and that didnt work either.-   Guest

-   my computer system does not recognize this music player.-   Guest
-Turn it OFF -Put it in the HOLD position -HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in. At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.
He also had me to:
- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM - In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.
If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP. GOOD LUCK
Make sure you are using a data transfer cable, and not just a "Charge Only Cable"... There is a difference, and they may look similar and both connect via USB so it can be tricky.
You need to do a firmware upgrade eventually (available from the Sansa website), but for now: Disconnect your Sansa player from computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button and reconnect to the computer. Continue holding the volume + button until the "Found New Hardware" Wizard pops up - XP will load the needed drivers.
