Shut it off either hold the power button a few second or remove the battery and power cord, power it back on and it it says anything about a problem with a disk and checking it  press any key to cancel then key a key or two see if it comes up also if you have any usb drive connected remove them they will occasionally cause this but normally the message will be checking a higher letter c is probably where windows is, if there is a serious issue that this needs to run then the computer will probably not start if you skip the disk checking, hopefully this helps, if not or if the problem is more serious than windows wasting your time then you may want to post any details you have, the version of windows, make of the laptop, specs if possible, anything that you have or have had changed, any previous problems you had, anything acting strange on the laptop, etc. there are lots of factors that can cause this including viruses and hardware failure. good luck.

Unable to change time and program

HA hA ha ha who posted these suggestions? For a time change press "run" "clk" "the time in military time 2:55pm woul d be 14:55:00 and that's in hours:minutes:seconds" then press run again.

to set the day which is 1-7 and 1 equals Monday, Tuesday = 2, Wednesday =3 and etc... you'll have to press "run" "clk" "which day it is 1-7" "day" "run" to end it.

As far as programming the schedule for the bells I can't figure it out. I know it's something like "prg" "loc, which would be the location number 1-99 or however many location positions there are" then "time, 24hr military format again" then "day, 1-7(days of the week)" then "cde, which is the code format( have no idea what the code format is, but i just use 3 as the code" and then i assume it's "run" to end it but it doesn't work.

My Compaq Deskpro EN P933 has been giving me headache for long. The last time i shut it down it was working normally. The next morning i powered it on it din,t even get to the BIOS.It displayed a black...

A Black screen with what message?

Try the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

What causes the machine to display messages like primary hard disk drive 0 not found. primary hard disk drive 1 not found. strike the f1 key to continue, f2 to run the setup utility?

The system cannot find your hard drive. Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case, then remove the cables that are plugged into the hard drive and plug them back up. Reboot and see if it recognizes the drive.

If not, you can try the check disk utility.

My hp pavillion laptop came with with windows vista installed, no disc. it is now corrupted. i do not have a recovery disc. Can i download a repair disc from your website?

No stevecummo, as FixYa does not provide this service.

However you can contact HP Support, and obtain the Restoration disk.

In the USA for example,

1) The Restoration disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call 1-800-474-6836 to speak to a representative. (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)

Have the Product Number written down from the white Service Tag, on the bottom of the laptop, to give to the representative.

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html

For those outside the USA here is the HP Support Worldwide contact information,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

Laptop on, insert the Restoration disk in the optical drive.

When asked perform a;

1) Non-Destructive Installation: (Repair)
For repairing the basic Windows files. Saves the personal information you have on the laptop.

2) Destructive Installation: (Full Installation)
Deletes all personal information saved.

Takes the computer back to day 1 when it came from the factory.

> using for 2 months

Your computer is still protected by the manufacturer's warranty,
i.e., they will repair anything (including your disk-drive) at their cost.
Take it back to where you purchased it, and file a warranty-claim.

> tried to install Windows 7

What happened? Disk I/O (Input/Output) errors when it tried to read/write files from/to the disk-drive?

I need to know how to clean the system and get my help and support working

For problem #1 you should run Disk cleanup and then Disk Defragment in the Accessories/System tools folder.

For problem #2 it sounds like helps and service is stopped or the registry is corrupt. Follow this link to fix the problem:

Good luck!
