Question about Insignia NS-8PDVD

INSIGNIA (DVD Player)

I bought an Insignia DVD Player a month ago and it has worked fine...until now. I started watching a storebought DVD and it froze. Could not fast forward or rewind, had to turn DVD Player off. Now when I try to reload this disk, or ANY disk, all I get is a "Unknown Disc" message, none of my DVDs will load. What is wrong????

I have the exact same problem. While watching a DVD screen froze. I removed the DVD and inserted another. The unit responded with unknown disk. Is this a power supply problem?

durring normalopperation in the middle of watching a movie my sound and image started to freeze and skip.upon further trouble shooting found dvd drive motor is intermitantlly stopping causing fluctuation in all data.have not yet tested electrically but my hypothesis is that dvd player may have a problem with motor or motor power suply.
please contact me if other solution my be available.

Insignia blu-ray player only plays music cd's. Ejects BD's.

Try to clean the player using a bluray cleaning kit. Dont use the dvd cleaning kit as a few can cause problems. Look at packages and see if they can be used on blu-ray players.

If this does not fix the player call Insignia immediately as the laser can be broke and will be expensive to fix. These players have a one year warrante so you should be covered

Since your parents bought it, Best Buy might have the receipt in their name, I'd check this out. Di you happen to register it with the manufacturer?

Portable Insignia DVD player

just to the right of the source button there is what appears to be a recessed small button (approx 1/8"dia). It is a safety stud for an internal safety switch. If the small stud is set to deep the screen will shut off. It should be just about flush with the surface of the player. Mine was visibly crooked and jammed down almost inside. Pulled it up, made minor adjustment and the player works just fine.
