The TV has a TV/VCR button which when pushed puts it into "aux" mode. I get a picture for 10 seconds and sound but then the picture cuts off. It works fine in regular TV mode but cannot get the aux device to display the picture. Any advice?
I am sorry to say that this does not sound like a simple solution for your problem. It is hard to be sure without examining the situation but, If the video comes on breifly and, then goes away it sounds like something is heating up and, then opening up and, disrupting your video. It could be something in the stabilization. You will need to refer this problem to a qualified repair technician. If you want to keep the TV and, since it does work in TV mode I would suggest that if you want to use the RCA type jacks to connect a VCR/DVD or what have you that you get an RF modulator to connect thru the co-ax. This way you can connect your Cable/satelite to the co-ax connector and, your VCR/DVD player to the RCA on the Modulator. These are availible at radio shack and can also be found on ebay. I hope this helps at all. email@example.com

Try pressing the channel down button repeatedly until the lowest channel is displayed. Now keep going to see if it changes to an external port like F1 or R1 If that won't get you a picture try going to shopjimmy website to get a new remote.
OK I got my first TV, first to repair myself that is, and I have no training at all but am kind of a tech dork wannabe. So I checked and I have sound but no signal through the TV tuner, so I hooked up my Zenith VCR to aux 1 and sound with signal appeared, the VCR tuner still works :) so I am leaning toward the TV tuner. It is visibly damaged, and I'm hoping it is as simple as a broken connection. I also noticed a vertical flash and pattern of horizontal lines when it is turned off (white). sooooo I push on.... help!!!!!!!!!!!!! :>}
You trying to put the DVD/VCR combo between the cable box and the TV? OK, cable out goes to vcr in, vcr out goes to tv, I think you got that. Now there should be a tv/vcr button on the vcr/dvd, you need to press that when the unit is on. Also, make sure you are on the correct input on both the vcr and the tv, usually video 1 or AUX and choose line in or L1 on the vcr/dvd. If the tv/vcr button is toggled, itll completely bypass the vcr/dvd player.
The remote should have TV, VCR, AUX and maybe CABLE buttons at the top, one of which will light up when any button is pressed. Since it is a universal remote, the button at top lights up to let you know what mode it is in. If the AUX button lights up when any button is pressed, it means the remote is currently set to the AUX mode. To set it back to TV, simply press the TV button at the top. This puts the remote back in the TV mode and the TV button should now light up when any button is pressed. If that works and you are using a cable box with that set, then make sure the TV is on channel 3 by pressing 3 ENTER.
