Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I can't get access to my computer's welcome screen. I think it has something to do with the hard drive. I can't get past the black screen with codes. It says NTLDR missing. What can I do? What does it mean?

Try pressing F8 after you turn on the system, I suggest tapping it because each system has a window to recognize the keystroke. This should bring you to OS selection, choose last known good configuration, and if that doesnt work choose safemode and update, reinstall any missing file reported.

Hello sir, if your hard drive and video card is new for now, then maybe your memory card is not enough for your PC. And please try to check the processor because I encountered some problems like that.

If you are getting format errors on the hard drive, the most likely failure point is the HDD itself. If you have tried a known good hard drive, then next item I'd suspect would be the system RAM

Got a virus from ip torrents I think. Computer just went blue screen flickered a lot like a strobe then went dead cant reboot past first line of dos and dont want to have to restore it if info is still...

If you have access to a second computer you can try installing the hard drive on it as a slave and then do a full virus scan. After this completes and hopefully removes all the virus's you might be able to put the drive back into the original computer and do a windows repair from the windows XP CD. If not then you would need to transfer the data off the old drive and reinstall windows from Scratch. I would recommend doing it that way if possible as it gives a better chance of not being reinfected by something on the drive.

Completion Code 2? Hard drive failure?

Ok let me try to give my idea,

Are you familiar of running it in DOS(if your OS is windows). Try to boot in cdrom using DOS. Then try to access your harddrive using the command prompt. Make some browsing up to third degree folder. If you can browse. Then probably your HD is good could be data corruption that's why you can't pass even in the safe mode. Then your options are repair, restore, or reinstalled depends on the features of your unit.

Leave some comments so I can give anothers ideas from your updates.

E machine computer. starts up then it goes to the

This is caused by two files that are corrupt on your system. If you can get to another XP computer and get the following two files from the windows\system32 folder and copy them to the same location on your hard drive. The easiest way is to connect your hard drive to the other computer as a slave and copy them.

The files are: userinit.exe and wsaupdater.exe

Hope this helps

Verbatim external drive 500mb prevents bootup

Try changing the boot sequence in your CMOS setup, set your Main hard drive(I think it's IDE 0) and the rest is up to you whethere you will set the CD-ROM or the external HDD as the 2nd boot device. Once the computer starts just press DEL(most generic computers but for brand specific check the manual on how to access it) to enter the CMOS Setup.

If you are unable to access your welcome screen, and it is giving you a hard drive related error, it may be possible either your operating system is corrupt or your hard drive has failed. If you have already tried your recovery disc, your hard drive itself may be at fault.

First, verify that there are no discs in any drives, such as floppy or CD and then try to turn your computer on. If you cannot get to your welcome screen and you get an error about your hard drive, try using your recovery discs. If that doesn't work, you most likely have a faulty piece of hardware in your system, most likely your hard drive.

Hard drive short-circuit

Try taking the drive out of your computer and placing it in another computer as a "slave". Allow the other computer to boot up and seeif it recognizes your hard drive.

If it does, access your files that you need and copy and paste to an external hard drive till you can replace your computer with a new hard drive. It's worth a try.
