Question about Canon i850 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Repeating smudge along the left side of the paper

There is a repeating pattern in the margin of the paper along the left side. Sometimes it is 4 cm apart, sometimes it is 4 mm apart. Either way, it looks like I took a potato and carved it into a Christmas tree stamp and decorated the edge of my tax returns. Help! I need to be able to print clean printouts by April 15th.

I have a Canon Imagerunner 1023if and have black smudges along the left edge of paper, both copies and printed directly from computer.

this is possibly a problem in the fuseing part of your machine, where the paper heats up at the back, the fuser roller could be worn out. and your toner could be sticking to it.

HP Laserjet 1012 - Little smudges on page.

You probably have an excesive amount of toner building up on your rollers or fuser. A cleaning done by a certified technician should take care of this problem for you.

3 dots along the left margin of paper, after replacing the drum

Open the MP tray and place a new sheet of A4 paper on it.

Press and Hold the Clear/Back button and also press and hold the Left Arrow. The display should change to 'Drum Cleaning'

Press the OK button and it should clean the drum and print a sheet with smudges where your dots used to be.

You may need to repeat the procedure a few times.

Pale smudges regularly spaced down left margin, 1.5 inches apart

Hi:

Since you have already replace the toner cartridge then the most likely culprit is the fuser assy. You can test this by trying to print something and stop it by opening the cover just as the paper is trying to pass under the toner cart. Remove the toner cart carefully and look at the unfused print on the paper. Do you see the faint smudges? If not, then the problem lies with the fuser assy. This is the unit that gets hot and fuses the toner to the paper. If this is the case you will need to have a tech replace it for you.

Good Luck

Toner smudges along the extreme right side of the paper

If the smudges are gradually fading then it's likely just excess toner hitting the fuse drum. Try a few cleaning cycles/test prints and see if that makes it go away. If not, see if you can get a replacement toner.

Smudged Printing

replace the toner. many remanufactured cartridges will do this due to leaks during/after refill.
