I had sorta the same problem and I just fixed it. Mine was making clicking noises and jerking the tape causing speed variations and pitch changes, Uggghh. The FF, Rew, and take up functions are not belt driven like most decks. There is a little idler wheel between the motor and the take up axle. Take the whole transport assembly loose from the front of the deck...slide it back 3 inches . Take off the ground wire screw, and 3 screws holding the transport mechanism in place :...1 screw on top, 2 on bottom. Take the black front faceplate off of the drive...2 little screws. This exposes everything. The little idler wheel has a press on tiny, tiny piece of clear plastic holding it onto its little axle. Be hella careful. Use a tiny eyeglass screwdriver to pry it up and off. Dont lose it. Pull the idler wheel off. The rubber has hardened and slips. Pry the rubber rim off of the white plastic pulley using the tiny screwdriver. Put on an O ring that just fits. Scruff up the perimeter of the O ring with 220 sandpaper, Easy does it. Idler wheel goes back in, press on the little plastic retainer, put the black metal plate back on( 2 screws at top), slide the transport mechanism back into the front panel, secure with 3 screws, ground strap, replace cover. Clean heads, demagnetise, badda bing, badda boom.

Durabrand radio/cassette player model ct962 - tape does not turn when loaded

To be honest I'm not sure about your model. However I have seen the insides of a lot of other tape players, they all use little rubber belts (more like rubber bands almost) on plastic cogs to reel the tape in. My best guess is either one or more of the bands have broken or slipped off their track. The obvious remedy is of course to take it apart and replace the bands, but more than likely it'd be cheaper (and easier) to keep an eye out at a yard sale for another one that works.

I don't know what model audio tapes it uses and I

If it's a cassette deck it uses cassettes! What's the question? Have you tried a search engine for availability? The internet has no borders or boundaries. I buy consumables like media on eBay.

Cassette player plays tapes for awhile then will go garble like and auto reverse back and forth once then shut off. I noticed it seems the tape is getting kinked up or stuck on the rollers. looked for...

The reel drive of your set is not taking up the tape and resulting in no detection of reel pulse. this makes it switch over and the result happens again. Please clean up your drives, the rollers, change the belt and check the reel drive arrangement, the motors. I am sure the mechanism must be reset with new belts . This must solve your issue. Good day

We changed the batteries but I am still getting static and in and out music....does my Walkman need to be repaired? FS393..are 2 AA enough?

Please do a good cleaning off the head the rollers and the transport section., This will remove off all the static noise to be relayed to the head. make sure you use a reliable solvent to do all the clean up. make sure the reel and drives are working fine. also the pinch rollers are running without chewing the tape. If so replace the rollers and the belts. Hope this helps.Good day

I have a Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck. The idler wheel assembly is broken. Where would I be able to find a spare?

Definitely the spare will be available with the nearest Nakamichi dealer close to you as you will need to check on your yellow pages or the net. But if there is no hope thenthe best way to go about is to identify the repair shop closer to you that has old sets, Youmay be lucky to find and salvage from an old set which would have the mechanism intact but with an electronic failure. Please search also on the site here for the NakamichiBX-300 models which had a serious failure to be bartered. hope it works out. Good day.

I recently inherited an A-2340 $ Channel Reel To Reel Steror Tape Deck from my Grandfather who performed multi-track recordings in the 1960's. I have powered it up and all seems to work properly except the...

open the back cover and try to push rew. and fwd. then play and observe what is going on. if there is a ticking sound (eg..tick..tick...tick...tick) then it may be a gear has lost teeth on it. other than that it might be lubrication and belt deteriorating issues. my father in law has a similar one. and thats all that was wrong with his.but to me sounds like mainly lubrication issues, but this mechanism also uses belts for the the auto-reverse by flipping the head block around. This belt
will also need changing, and the head block
removed and taken apart to lubricate.

hope this helps

The power is on but the motor will not turn the tape drive. Does anyone know a good repair shop?

Hmm, when you press play, can you feel the motor turning, do the spindles turn on fast forward or rewind? If so you may have one of two problems. First check to see if the cue button is is depressed. If it is jammed, the deck will FF and RR but won't play. If it's not that, but the motor still spins, the motor is no longer making contact with the flywheel. If you have a repair manual, dismantle the deck and check out the motor contact

I have XM radio hooked to cassette player adapter in my car. The new adapter keeps sounding like it is rewinding. XM plays for 30 seconds and then ''rewinds'' again, over and over.

Unfortunately your tape play has the auto reverse feature. It is detecting that the tape is not turning via a reel counter. Sensing no movement ( as you have an audio adaptor inserted rather than a real tape) it is trying to switch to the other side of the tape.
Not very much you can do.
You could purchase an FM modulator and basically re-transmit the Xm over an un-used frequency on the FM band to slve your problem
