My computer freezes up once it has booted and while the window washer tries to come on, also the spyware screen comes up. The window washer screen says a problem has occurred with it and I need to reinstall it. But the keyboard will not respond at this point and I can not close the spyware box that has come up behind the window washer alert box. I can't close the window washer box. At that point nothing is going on because I cannot get the mouse to move or any buttons that I push either. I have tried escape, delete,, I have tried alt, control, delete. No response until I depress the power button and shut the computer down.

Clarification Request

1. What computer make and model
2. Are you using WinME <-- WinME does that all the time with NO reason - need to upgrade or downgrade if that is the case
3. Installed anything new ? Software or Hardware
4. When did this first start happening?

Right click on a open spot on the desktop. Click on personalize. (that is with a left click)

Then click on screen saver
At the bottom of that window, is a link that says "Change power settings"
Click on that.
Change power plan.

Put Turn off the display - change that to NEVER
Put the computer to sleep - Change that to NEVER

That should fix your problem.
