Question about LG RH1999H DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder

1 Answer

My DVD Player Will Not Function!!

When I turn on the DVD player, it says "Hello", and then it says, "Please Wait", over and over again. It will not do anything else but that, no matter what button I push or if I turn it off and then on again, or even if I unplug it. It will not respond. What should I do?

I have an LG RH1888H with the same problem...I was recording a movie and the machine seemed to freeze. I cant remember if I shut it down or whenther it did this itself but when trying to restart it it says hello then i can hear a clunk noise and it sounds like it is trying to read an incompatible disc (sounds like it is trying to search/read something) while it displays "Please wait..." but it doesnt do anything else.

Only had it a month or so and it was the first time I had tried to record...

    Please help

i just plugged it in and all it says is hello. I can't even open the dvd player. surely its not broken straight out of the box?

My LG RH1888H is doing the same thing. Re-arranged my entertainment unit and plugged it back in.. Get a forever scrolling PLEASE WAIT.

Im not likely to try fixing it myself and voiding the 3 yr warranty. It is now two years old, and required a new laser unit at 12 months. Mmmmm, wonder if I'll buy LG again??????

  • brownski Oct 10, 2008

When I put in new recording media, the unit usually returns with a message indicating "invalid region code". DVD has a slow time reading DVDs and has often runs for many minutes, seeming like a endless loop...
Drive has been cleaned, media is varied/new/clean and settings reset to default. THANKS IN ADVANCE -

Hi there, I don't want to buy another dvd player, I would like to know how do I change the codes on a Panasonic-S54dvd player so that it can play all Regions?

This may or may not work i found it on a form and if it does not everthing other than this is a nightmare to get to work or you have to buy things

1. Remove any DVD discs from the tray/unit.

2. Switch off the DVD player and unplug the power cord.

3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord.

4. Turn on the DVD player with the supplied Samsung remote and wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc' or the Samsung logo before you do anything else.

5. Press Enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response to you doing this.)

6. Press the following numbers in sequency using the supplied Samsung remote unit's keypad -

8, 4, 2, 6, 9 (omit the commas shown here)

(Again, there will be no on-screen response to this action.)

7. Press Enter on the remote. The DVD Player will automatically shut off.

8. Now, turn the DVD player on.

9. When it is on and showing the "no disc" or Samsung logo, turn it off again.

10. Repeat this action by turning the DVD player on, then off again.

11. The DVD Player should now be Region-free.

Unlock code region hts5560

Open the Philips HOME SCreen,...
Type on your remote: 13893108520

This will display all of the current settings for your player.
Region_Code: DVD(2) BD(B)

This will not change any settings, but will report your current settings. So it's a reporting function only.

To change your DVD region settings try the following:

Turn on player with no disk inserted
Press "Open/Close" on the remote control
Press 259 on the remote control
After enter the code 13893108520 again on the HOME Screen and the player will show region "0"

Now the buttons on the front of the player do not work anymore.... You will need to go to SETUP and click on RESET FACTORY SETTINGS....
Wait until the player restarts and now you can play all DVD regions..... ;-)

Hi i need the hack code for my region 1 Samsung HTZ310 dvd player. Anyone can help please?

My brother got this one as part of a deal and I hunted around and found that most if not all HT variants have the same region free hack:

1. Remove disc from tray.
2. Switch off player and unplug from mains.
3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect mains.
4. Turn on player with remote. Wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc'.
5. Press enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
7. Press enter on the remote. Player will automatically shut off.
8. Turn player on.
9. turn off.
10. Turn player off then on again.
11. Player is now region-free.

Did this on a Samsung HT-Z310 and other than I think maybe the tray not opening when it said it worked fine and the player is now region free.
