Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional for PC

1 Answer

Wireshark http://www.wireshark.org/ Im captureing only spesific packets witch may only come ones or twice in a hour or more. I filtered the display successfully, now the problem is the time format. I see the packet number, then time. on the time I see, for example 366.292089 (seconds) So packet was receaved 366,29.. seconds after the capture was started. I need to change this time to match my clock instead. Instead of showing 366seconds after capture began it should show for example, 17:45 or 5:45 pm.

I want to mirror all traffic to one port in avaya c363t switch. How I can do it?

Not sure on the how on an Avaya switch, but why do you want to do this? This is a really bad idea. Typically you only want to mirror one port to another for troubleshooting purposes such as running wireshark to get a packet capture. Doing all the ports to one will overload the switch.

IP Camera Port Forwarding

The best way to find out what is being forwarded is to look at the traffic with the Wireshark program. You can install this from the Internet.

Wireshark is perfect for this but you have to learn how to filter traffic or there will be too much information collected. It is also regarded as (a bit of) a burglar tool so don't use it at work without permission.

I would recommend that you connect a PC to a wired port on the inside LAN and configure the router to forward outside requests to the PC. When you run wireshark on the inside PC with a filter that selects for tcp port 80 (or tcp port == 80) you will see traffic forwarded from the router.

Use your outside machine to request a page from the router's outside address and the port you are forwarding. If you have forwarding set up correctly, you should see a TCP connection attempt. If you are not running a web server on the inside PC, there will be no connection so you will only see the SYN packet from.
outside. If you have a web server on port 80, you will see a fair number of packets in both directions. (SYN -- SYN-ACK -- SYN -- some HTTP Headers an HTTP GET / a response and FIN -- FIN-ACK).

Once you see successful port forwarding (your are forwarding TCP packets, right?) at the PC, change the destination of the forwarding to the camera.

This is really technical but Wireshark is so good that it is quite easy to use.

Can't find the IP address of the Maxtor Shared storeage II drive.

Download and install Wireshark(www.wireshark.org) on your PC. Attach the storage box and your PC and nothing else to a switch. Start a capture and you'll start to see all of the packets that your PC sees on its network interface. They will include a column for source address. The one that doesn't match your PC has to be the storage box.

If this doesn't help, connect the two devices directly together(you'll need a crossover cable if your PC NIC doesn't support MDIX and try the Wireshark capture again - this WILL work. The first option is dependent on the storage box sending out some sort of broadcast packets which is likely but not certain.

I have a tenor dx 6120 connects to an omnipcx office but i cannot make a voip call with it although I 've configured it to make sip call

Unfortunately, there are any number of reasons this could be a problem. The only sure way to tell what's going on is to look at the SIP traffic directly.

If you are up for it, here are the steps you'll have to take:

1. Download and install Wireshark(it's free) from www.wireshark.org

2. Install wireshark on a PC and connect it to the same switch as the Tenor,

3. Configure the switch to use the PC port as a monitor port for the port the tenor is connected to; you need a managed switch for this.

4. Start a capture with Wireshark for the appropriate interface. You'll probably see a shocking amount of traffic on your network all of a sudden. Don't worry, we're going to filter out the stuff that doesn't matter and it will be much more manageable.

5. Click the Telephony tab and select "VOIP calls". Try to make a call or two and see if this provides any useful info.

6. If #5 didn't help, go back to Telephony and select the "SIP" filter. This will provide more basic info on what is going on with the Tenor by showing every SIP packet. If you don't know anything about SIP it can be pretty hard to read though - you may need to post results here and let us take a look.

Conversion of SNMP to TCP/IP packet

Hi!

I suggest the following:
Install a packet analyzer to the target machine.
This program helps you observe and analyze the network traffic real time. It is helpful for debug the network packets, look inside how the frames is structured. The Wireshark is quite popular debugger tool. Install it and check TCP/IP and SNMP packets with it.
Here is it:
http://www.wireshark.org/download.html

Second:
There is a lot of information on the internet about the SNMP freame formats and TCP/IP protocol.
Here are some useful links:
http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_SNMPMessageFieldDefinitionsGeneralMessageFormatand.htm
http://www.dpstele.com/layers/l2/snmp_l2_tut_part1.php
http://www.rane.com/note161.html
A lot of RFC documents write down the SNMP protocol.

Here are somple helpful VC++ programs:

I suggest using free tools to test your network device:

DES-1005 in HUB working mode?

Unfortunately, the DES-1005 can not be configured to behave as hub and send all the packets to your analyzer software.

Do you have a manageable switch available. Most manageable switches have a "port mirroring" or "monitor" function that allows you to copy all the traffic passing through one port to another port...where the wireshark can receive it for analysis.
