Accidental ejection I use a SmartDisk Crossfire hard disk with an iMac G5 (OSX). Just now, I pressed the eject button for the external drive, and it now no longer appears on my computer. Can I save the data on it and rejoin it to my iMac? If so, how do I back up my Mail system onto the external drive?

Try switching the drive off and on, it should re appear, if not go to applications-utillities-disc utility and see if it is there, if so select the smartdisc and press repair permissions then try again

Try turning the external drive off & wait a minute then turn it back on.if it works just drag what you want to transfer from your mac to the external drive and it should copy it to the drive.

WD external hard drive mac

Sounds like your external drive might be bad. Try connecting it to another system and see what happens. If you can't get to read data on another system, the drive is bad.

I have a SmartDisk External USB 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy

well you I&hash39; have got problems the first thing i would be looking for would be a bad driver to this device if you are having trouble with your drivers
here is a general look at the drivers and how to update them
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
if the problem still persists check the leads that attach to this device make sure they have secure seatings or just replace them they could be faulty from overstreching
hope this helps

The 5v power pin on the AC adapter of my SmartDisk Crossfire external hard drive has been broken. How do I get a replacement AC Adapter?

Take your SmartDisk to any computer-store.

They can open the case, remove the disk-drive,
and mount the disk-drive in a new "empty" external casing,
with a new power-supply.
See: http://www.canadaram.com/3_5_sata_enclosures.htm
for a sample of various "empty" cases, for about $30.

Hi i have a smartdisk crossfire external harddrive which I have used to save my photos from a windows based pc. However I have now purchased a IMac and wish to be able to load my photos on to this. When I...

congratulations on switching to mac!plug the external hard drive back into the PC, and copy the photo's to the PC, now plug it into your mac and go to applications-utilities-disc utility, the external drive should be listed on the left, click on the erase tab, at the volume format select "ms-dos file system", then click the erase button, this will erase everything on the drive and set it up so your mac can use it (but its ok because you moved all your pictures to the PC) now you can go back to the PC and copy the pictures on the external drive and it will work with your mac.

I want to eject cd from cd rom apple system imac

To eject a CD/DVD that is not recognized by your computer, boot up while holding down the eject button on your keyboard, and continue to hold down eject until the disk ejects.

If this does not work, hold down your mouse button while booting up in the same way.

If neither of these work, open Terminal and type in the following:

drutil tray eject

If your disc does still not eject, your optical drive likely needs repair.

Won't start up....emergency eject????

Hi there,

As soon as you turn on your G5, hold down the mouse button. Keep holding it down until the disc ejects. Make sure you hold down the mouse button (right side or middle) as soon as you turn the computer on.

Eject is stuck on my power mac g5

try a reboot and hold the left mouse button down during the startup. You can also hold the spacebar during startup. This should force eject the drive

2 out of 3 partitions mounted.

It sounds like you're on a mac. I would run Disk Utility (in your Appications>Utilities folder) select the partition, and click the "Repair Disk" button. If that doesn't work, you may have to purchase a program like "Disk Warrior" (about $100) and that should take care of the problem.
