Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you
are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring
located around the lens. This will allow you to focus the camera image
on objects at different distances. Also, make sure there is good
lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image
quality considerably.
Connection Issues:
If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet
using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL
Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly
affects the image quality of the transmitted video. Corporate LAN,
DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality
experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall
poor quality because of the slower connection speed. Even broadband
connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at
times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds. If the image
appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet
connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video
program.
Changing Display Adapter Settings:
If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you
may need to change the settings for your display adapter. For optimal
image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to
display at least 16-bit high color or higher. To change the color
palette please perform the following steps:
- Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."
- Double-click on the Display icon.
- Click on the tab labeled Settings.
- In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).
- Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.
Low Light Boost:
If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some
Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost." If there
is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost"
in the QuickCam software. To do this:
- Open the QuickCam software.
- At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.
- Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".
- Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.
- If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other
image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white
balance.
- Click OK when your are done.
Camera powers up. LCD is (1) white only, no image, (2) settings shown on white background, and (3) off. picture not recorded, no flash even though requested. No usable LCD display, No picture recorded.
Please help.
I hardly used the camera, and put it on charger all the time since Jan 06.When I turn on the camera now, the bright white display is the only thing I see on the whole screen. It shows only white display when I try to press any button.
In my Camera, the display lasts hardly for 5 to 6 seconds and starts flickering and then goes off.
Please help
white screen only in image box
For a few minutes the display screen is totally normal and I can take photos. Then the screen goes black with horizontal lines flickering thru it. If I hit display the icons do show. Seems like if it's off for awhile it's ok for a short time but then looses the screen again. Love this camera and hate the thought of replacing it! Can it be fixed?

no image display
My image screen only shows after I take a picture and then it disappears. I will never buy another cannon product ever again. Sony is the way to go.
I cannot see the picture (during & after) shooting. All other info like batterly charge indicator, menu, etc. are displayed properly.
When I turn my Sureshot S51S on the screen is black with the various icons. Tried all kind of stuff but I still can't take a picture!
I'm no Einstein, but no dummy either! Maybe some setting needs adjustment. It takes great pictures! I only hope it's not defective.
Hope somebody can help. I need it for my job. Thanx. Tony
same problem here :(
Same as the others. Icons appear ok but no display. Can't figure out how to fix it.
I can see icons in the image display, but can't see anty image.
No image in display box.
All the icons are viewable, just not the picture. My digicam is barely new.
HELP!
I just started having the exact same problem. I have no idea what happened, I have had my camera for a few years and haven't had a problem up until now. I can't believe that there has not been a solution listed for this yet. Someone has to know SOMETHING!! I do but not about this particular problem. :)
Hello, i have this same problem:
