1999 Mercury Mystique Sedan With STEREO printed on door speaker grill ? How and where do I find this out?

It would be unheard of to not have stereo in modern car. The thing to be careful about is the wire harness. DONT CUT IT!! Get an adapter for the new stereo

Have you spliced wires already? If not may I suggest buying an installation harness faster insatallation and less headaches. If you need more information please respond to this thread. Good Luck.

OK, first I recommend you purchase a wiring harness specific to the vehicle. The wiring harness is equiped with standardized wire colors to match aftermarket radios. Then the harness plug situates the wires in the correct pattern to match the vehicle. All you do then is plug it in. You will probably need a trim panel too. I recommend you check out www.crutchfield.com, they have the harnesses, dash kits, and instructions. Hope this helps.

I am putting in a new stereo system and I need to know what color wires go to the speakers

If your installing a new stereo deck you should get a wire harness from walmart $10-$20..
this will make it easy work!! the harness will have labeled wires.

If you cut the wires then i need the make and year of the car to help more.

On the new deck most have the same colors..

the 2 white.. front left

greens rear left

grays front right

violet rear left

remember the wires with the black line is the - ground

Im trying to install an aftermarket stereo in my 06 dodge ram 1500 quad cab slt and ive made the mistake in cutting the factory wiring harness off so im lost in what color wire goes to what

Try here and scroll down to dodge in vehicle wiring information, click on it, then scroll through years and over to stereo. What you need to know should be there. ( http://www.the12volt.com/ )

Why have the speakers stopped working on my stereo. they were working fine until i had to brake sharply then thet all went off together. the stereo is only a month old & is still connected at rear...

Hello.. I am sorry to hear you are having a problem. If you have had your speakers changed out recently, it could be that one of the speaker wires or terminals are touching a metal part of the car. What happens is the aftermarket stereo detects this problem and it shuts down all of the outputs to keep from burning up. So all of your speakers going out is a good thing because your stereo protection is working as it should. You can cut all of the speaker wires loose behind the radio and hook them back up one at a time and when the radio cuts off, that will be the bad line. I am assuming of course that you dont have them hooked to an aftermarket amplifier. Even if you have not changed your speakers, it is still a protection circuit that will detect a bad speaker as well. Sudden jolts, braking, etc. can cause a bad speaker to fault. Hope this helped!! Good luck with your venture!

your best bet is to buy a chiltons book for your car from an auto parts store. also i might add: reconnect your wires to the factory plugg you cut off and buy a wiring harness from a car stero installer or radio shack for your car it will automaticaly adapt your original harness (which your having trouble with) to a standard wiring setup for an aftermarket stereo. then its all about maching colors :)

Model GCE7002 CD taken out of old car need to fit to new car but connection does not fit,can you advise.

Go to walmart, they'll probably have the plug that fits your car. If they don't an auto parts store will. The new connection will plug right into your car's plug but you'll have to splice the wires to connect it to your stereo unit. All you'll have to do tho is match colors. The wires that come out of the new connection you bought, and the wires coming from the stereo unit will match, just connect color to color and you're all set. note: you won't use all the wires coming from the connection. hope this helps

Car Audio Cutting Out

stereo is detecting a short , or low load on speaker wire and or speakers .Go behind car stereo , disconnect all speakers and apply a known good speaker to one of four wires and see if volume works normally ..If it works use same speaker on all outputs one by one ..If all are okay then you should figure out what speaker and or wires are causing issue..Also make sure your ground is okay
