I had exactly the same thing happen. I had a free laptop and wound up letting the main battery drain which drained the CMOS battery resulting in the time date issue you see. I am not sure about the tampering message but the key icon means there is a supervisor password set. I looked online for a month to find a better solution but the best I could come up with was from this site. I followed their advice to the letter and it worked.

You will need to know how to solder and not be afraid to take the laptop apart. There is no other way than this to deal with the supervisor password. You will have to flash the chip and read the binary dump. there is software you will need for both of those operations. Once you get the password, you can enter it at the lock screen and then get into the BIOS.

Best of luck. I did it and I ain't that darn smart.

How do you set the system date and time

To set the Date & Time, go into the BIOS setting - date 7 time.
When you set the Date & Time and you get this error again when you next boot up your computer, then most likely you have a flat BIOS battery.
Then replace this battery, it could be a coin size battery - 3 volt lithium battery type CR2032. and then go into the BIOS setting and set the Date & Time.

Need password for entering windows. there is error 0271: check time and date setting. my friend said that the motherboard error, must be reset or change... what should i do???

I have the same problem with a desktop.

To bypass the error, You might need to set the correct date and time every time you power up your laptop. Date and clock setting can be set via CMOS configuration.

Bios lock, ERROR CODE 0271

Hi,
Error code 0271 - Date and time error. Neither the date nor the time is set in the computer.
Run BIOS Setup Utility to reset the time and date
It sounds as though your computer has the wrong time in the CMOS. The CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductors) is the chip that holds the basic startup information for the BIOS, system and its peripherals while the system is turned on and off.

If you can get into the BIOS check the date and time settings and make sure they are correct.

It may also be a case of the CMOS battery going out. When this happens your computer will tend to not keep the correct time. They are cheap and relatively easy to replace. Before buying a new batter your can try to take it out and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so to reset the CMOS and then go put the battery back in and go into the BIOS and reset the clock.

Hopefully taking the batter out or replacing it will get past your lock icon asking for the password. Just search for CMOS or BIOS default password for your brand of laptop.

My IBM thinkpad A21e is showing me an error message

You need to replace your BIOS battery. The battery is old and cannot maintain the BIOS configuration. That is why you are getting incorrect date and time and bad CRC error.
Replace the battery and then configure the BIOS settings.

Cmos password for ibm r40

You will have to remember it. IBM puts a security chip on the motherboard, the bios password is burned into this, and there is no way around it. There are a few places that will replace the chip, but they are very expensive. The only other way is to replace the motherboard. I've found that replacing the motherboard is cheaper than having the chip replaced, so, if possible, remember the password.

ERROR 0271

Are you a computer whizz? (do you know a lot about computers like me?)

Could be the Cpu fan (Central Processing Unit)
That could be lethal to the laptop.
Just as well it's a IBM other wise . . .
As for the error it means the time and date are not set.
soloution: run the bios setup utillity to reset time and date.
