Car amp problems

My amp was working fine, but i took out my system and was putting it back in when this i was screwing down th power wire, my screwdriver touched the amp and caused a spark. Now my led light is on, my fan is on, but i got no sound coming from either of my subs. All the wiring is correct, is there some way to trouble shoot, or know what is wrong? It was all working fine until i took it out and did that. Thx

Yeah, I did that first, it turned out to be a problem somewhere else(wiring) and i have since fixed it. On the positive note after rewiring my 8 ohm speakers to be in parallel instead of series i now produce about 450w from my 4 ohm 2 channel bridged amp. Whereas before they were in series producing 16 ohms unbridged which bogged my amp down to like 25w each. It was on stereo before i bridged it and ran it in series, and now it bangs bridged in mono almost as good as did before my alpine crapped out on me. But thx for the suggestion, since its worked for me before i rate yours FIXYA!

Be prepared, I'm going to ask a stupid question :).....

Have you tried removing both the +12V and Remote wires from the amp for a few minutes/hours and then reconnecting? It's possible the amp just needs a little "reset time" before working.

I installed a planet audio TW402 amp in my car. i put this amp last summer. when i first put it in my car with an sony xplod sub. i had a very small 12 gauge power wire and ground wire. but still it worked...

It could have to do with how your speakers are wired. If you have 2- 4 ohm speakers and they
are both wired to one terminal (RIGHT OR LEFT) on the amp, you have a 2 ohm load and most amps are rated at 4 ohms.
Go to this site and use #58 on the right sidebar to see if you are wired correctly.

My boss d1000.2 2 channel amp was working fine..i took it out the car n put it back the power light comes on but it doesnt play

Make sure your power supply isnt crossed, you will still get a power light with reversed polarity. Then ensure the speaker is connected at both ends, on the amp and at the sub.

Mtx 1501d no sound

There are a number of things that can cause it to act as you described. Have you pulled the covers off of it yet to see if you can see any problems?

If you do, disconnect power from it and don't touch ANYTHING on the board when ANY of the 3 LEDs (2 are not visible from the outside) are lit.

Two vasonik amps turn on and the sony amps wont (all i did was switch the wires over) whats the deal

heyman... try checking the fuses on both the sony amps. if they are try hooking up each amp individually...if they will turn on seperatly but not at the same time it could be due to over abuse of the single ground and power leads that feed your amps. meaning that whie 2 amps will draw more power, they will also break down the wires faster. a continuity test of the power and groundwires should also be done.

Power Problem, LED Lights up and then shuts off

Do you have the switch or activate wire on the new amp. to the right hookup? If you do, then theres a problem with the amp and if your not a tech these can be a difficult thing to trouble shoot. Take back the amp or seek out a pro to test it on a bench. Good Luck

Amp cuts out with loud volume

From what you describe it could be that its not getting enough power when the car is fully running. Its been a long time since I have had to deal with car audio problems. Does it happen when the vehicle is running but in park? If so it could be a short (Not likely though, it would be happening more often). Or it could be a loose connection somewhere that the vibrations of the vehicle are shaking. That would also be a problem if it happens when it moves. If it is still a problem, I would take it to a Checkers Auto. A lot of them offer free electrical testing.
