Viewing using a powerpoint projector

HELP! I am attempting to use the powerpoint projector at the college I work. My problem is-is that the cabel from the projector to my laptop will not work because the cable end for the lap top is not one of those "screw in" type. My lap top only has a small VGA- not one that also has to have the two screw in holes on each side. I went to Best Buy and they sugested I get a S-Video cable. Brought it home and my lap top does not have a plug for this type of cable.
If it helps- I have a Gateway- 2 years old.
I looked all over at Best Buy and there wasn't a cable that had a screw in end and a jusy plug in end! Hope this makes sense- I am not very savoy in this area!

    I tried plugging the cabel end into my laptop but it seemed to just not make a good connection. And like others who used to powerpoint projector-as soon as they plugged in- their desk top screen came up- and we were set to go. Mine wouldn't do anything!

The Windows Vista/7 driver may work. Others have managed to get the 9 to work but Dell doesn't have a Win8 driver. First are you installing the printer for the first time to the computer or did you upgrade the OS and are reinstalling the driver? If you have done an upgrade or attempted to install once before, you will need to delete any jobs in the printer queue.(Win+X > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > View Printers and Devices. Select your printer and then see what's printing. Cancel all jobs.) If you can't delete the jobs, press the Windows key and type in Command Prompt. Right click on the appropriate program and at the bottom of the screen, select Run As Administrator. Type in "net stop spooler" followed by enter (without the quotes). Follow that line with "net start spooler" again followed by pressing enter. After you see the responses, restart the computer. Then unplug the printer from the computer. Then uninstall the printer driver. (Win+X > Device Manager. Expand the Printers section. Right-click on the printer and then select uninstall driver.) Manually remove the printer from the Devices and Printers list. (Win+X > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > View Printers and Devices. Select your printer and then click Remove Device.)

The driver itself is available here: . Make sure that you select the x64 version if you have a 64-bit version of the OS. Most desktops and laptops currently sold have the 64-bit version of Windows 8. An older computer that was upgraded may have the 32-bit version of the OS.
Find the install file that you downloaded from the Dell site. Right click on the file and select Properties. Under the Compatibility tab, choose Always Run in Compatibility Mode for Windows 7 (use the drop-down menu to select the OS version). Click Apply and then OK to save the setting. Now double-click on the installer to run it. You will need to acknowledge the UAC to allow the program to run. You will need to repeat this Compatibility step on the Setup file after extracting the files from the downloaded file. Keep track of where the extraction places the files; my computer showed the default location of C:\dell\drivers\R165704 .
Tablets with Windows RT probably can't use the driver since it isn't offered through the Windows Store.

I hope this helps.

My powercom UPS model no. is IND601A.It shuts down on its own with beep going off.the device doesn't function at the first attempt but it takes 4-5 attempts to get started.I mean to say when press start...

Please open and check your battery. possible that it has gone weak. Put the set on and do not switch off as the batttery needs the trickle charge to keep fit.
This is do-it -yourself site and we do not recommend any company.'But check for a search for Powercom Power supplies.. Might help.

Hi iam wondering what does this equipment is built for? i have one and dont know what is for PLS.

Used to run your computer for a pre-determined amount of time incase of power failure. Also acts as a good lightning arrestor (filter, surge protector).
Plug it into a powerpoint and plug your computer and equipment into the socket(s) on the device.
Beware, the more equipment plugged through this device the less time it can run this equipment for. Only plug in the essentials to this device.

My laptop screen

Occasionally the toolbars just transfer themselfves to the side. If this is the problem, and say the toolbars are on the right side, just point near the lower part of the toolbar and then keep the left click mouse button down and drag it back to the bottom of the screen. May take several attempts.

Based on your post/description:
TV - 4pins S-Video and RCA (yellow) Composite inputs;
Notebook - 7pins S-Video and VGA female.

There are several ways you can make it work:
1. Use a (7pins) S-Video to RCA cable;
2. Use a 7pins S-Video to 4pins S-Video adapter cable;
3. Use a VGA to RCA converter.

The links above are only examples of the commonly available. You may need to check with your local electronic/video store if they have similar products.

Should you like to tinker and DIY (do-it-yourself), this link shows how to make one.

Any of the above will work but video quality differs. Additionally, most if not all TVs can not accept high screen resolution of a monitor/LCD hence you need to lower your display to something like 800 X 600.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
