Visonic David 80 speakers - replacment drivers

I am trying to track down replacement HF drivers to suit these units - but its about 15 years since i changed them last and loaned to my brother-in-law (never again) and when i got them back - hey presto - no top end!
Where should i look in Australia for these (or suitable alternative) parts?

Thanks so much - Craig.

I'm not sure down under, but check with ORANGE COUNTY SPEAKER in California. They are online and most likely will have replacements. They may ship overseas. Watch the VAT!

Crackling from bass combo when I hit low notes

I'm afraid it sounds as though the speaker has been overloaded. The replacement for this will, unfortunately, be a new driver (the speaker unit itself).

Don't understand how to connect my speakers

the 4 inputs are for biamping, (using separate amplifiers for low and high frequencies). just leave the pins in place and connect the amplifier to one red(+) and one black(-) connector on the speaker. It has an internal crossover to protect the tweeter.

Hello Sir, Hi, the amplifier best suited for it would be a Behringer also, the EP2500 would be a match, and the eurolive B815neo speakers, but this cost a lot, any amplifier and a corresponding speaker will do. for your electric guitars or acoustics the GTX30. If you will use your 15" speakers, match it with a right amplifier, you did not mention its watts rating, If your speakers are 250 watts, then buy an amplifier slightly higher that 250 watt,

''pop noise'' problem with a Marantz SC-80

Noise like you describe is more often caused by Electrolytic Capacitors. My guess is It's likely that one of them is leaking that DC into the circuit. Replace them on the tone control board one at a time (if you can't track it down) till you solve it.

No sound from one of the two speakers on my su500.

I i remember correctly these amplifiers use their own brand power chips,if one channel is down normally that chip has blown, chances are small of getting replacement,st bet is to source faulty one on ebay and swop a good chip

Sony Model No STR-DE475 blinks "PROTECT" even with no speakers

With all speaker wires disconnected and still showing the protect message, the short is internal. This is a rather common failure for these units. The output transistors are shorted themselves. These are relatively simple to replace and run about $15 each. Any service shop that repairs audio can fix this easily. Usually, once the outputs are replaced, you can get many additional years of service from the unit. Yes, it is worth it (in my opinion).

Kenwood LPS 5000D

Hi cw10k

Thats odd. The only passive radiators I have seen over the years have been the same size as the bass driver. They need to be this way to provide the correct tracking of the bass driver. Your speakers sound more like a a 3 way system that may have been modded. Unfortunately they pre-date the internet by the looks of it :) I cant find any info for them, and from my recollection. Kenwood never made anything notable in loudspeakers. I suggest checking the crossover of the speakers to see if they look original, or if indeed they are 3 ways. If there is only a capacitor to the tweeter, then they were never meant to be performance loudspeakers, and probably came with a system of sorts. Keeping in mind the cost of replacement drivers to do upgrades to this sort of gear, may make them uneconomic to repair or upgrade. In Australia(they do deliver world wide) you can get passive radiators from Speaker Bits
Got any thoughts on that. :)

Blown Compression Drivers

This unit features 2 -10" passive speakers and HF horn/driver. If you are blowing the HF driver, the problem is with overdriving the high range of EQ. At sustained high volumes, the voice coil of HF driver will overheat and open. If you still have effective warranty, ask Yamaha to replace drivers. Fixed,-- back off higher frequencies of EQ, turn down volume.

Peavey KB 300 amp problems

Hi there.

You have have been unfortunate enough to experience an uncommon failure. The bass driver has failed. It is a Black Widow that can have the basket/cone/voice coil assembly replaced as a complete unit. The magnet unbolts from the basket and you bolt on a new one. Classic field service designed product. You will be able to get a new basket from a Peavey equipment stockist. Just ask for a 15' Black Widow replacement basket They cost about $180 here in Australia and you can easily change it yourself. Good Luck and happy jamming.

A FixYa rating would be great for my tech tip to you. Cheers

Graeme

PEAVEY djs4 speaker QUESTION

If a speaker is "blown", there is normally an open-circuit in the voice coil, therefore it emits no sound at all. Can't discount a loose wire, but blown HF drivers are very common.
