Most likely you have a speaker short, you need to check the ohms on each speaker disconnected from receiver if they are 8 ohms they should be close to that on the meter no more than a 1 and half ohm varience to what the speaker ohms says on the back. If they are ok you need to disconnect speaker wire from receiver and check for a short in the wire by connecting ohm meter leads to ends of the speaker wire you should get no reading if the wire is good. If this is all good you have a bad output transister in your receiver, but i dout this is the case because these transisters normally short to ground and blow a fuse. Hope you solve your problem good luck

After a brief power outage, my Marantz receiver, model SR-48, is stuck in standby mode. Tried unplugging it, but to no avail. What do I have to do to reset it? No owner's manual found online.

I think your radio is as much computer as radio. Computers are everywhere and contain delicate CMOS circuitry - easily damaged by a power surge such as often accompanies a power outage.

Surge protectors should be used to provide a measure of protection, although it is possible a software fault has been caused by the sudden interruption of supply.

I have a marantz sr-68 receiver and occasionally when playing through Sonos it fails and goes to protected mode. Any suggestions on how to prevent this.

Is the amplifier being overloaded by the speakers, generally if they shut down like this its because the amp can't supply enough power to the speakers or there is an issue with the wires being to light gauge.

I have a marantz sr 7001 amp and am running canton 4ohm speakers to front and centre should my amp get really hot and go into protect mode when I am giving it some serious volume

it is not made to drive 4 ohm loads.also if you measure the impedance on the speaker,at some frequencies,it is closer to 3 ohms. This will cause the amplifier to shut down.Today's amplifiers are embellished specs.the old marantz 2325 was 125 watts a channel and weighed 80 pounds. It would eat alive some of the 1000 watt home theater amps of today.Marantz is very nice stuff.

Power shuts off after 2 or 3 sec.

please remove all speaker from receiver-volume down and test if the receiver shut down it needs to fix in service center-if not insert speaker one by one until you find the bad one-change its cable first and then change speaker itself.

Unit goes into protect mode

Not unless you know how to troubleshoot solid state electronics. If you disconnected the speakers and the unit still goes into the protect mode, most likely you have a short in one of the power output stages. Good Luck
