TV does not detect remote control.

I cannot control the TV with remote control. Originally, I thought the remote control did not work. I ordered a new control, and still it did not work. I called Toshiba and they told me that the remote control sensor is not working.

Remote control receiving sensor circuit problem in the TV. Mostly due to degradation of the sensor over a period of time.

Go close to the TV and see whether you get a response. If it responds try determining the distance back wards. If the remote works up to certain distance, the problem is weak sensor (TV).

If totally not operative it is sensor circuit problem. It could be sensor or it's associated parts.

There is no TV button to press on rc-017 remote, setup instructions say press on tv button till led lights up.

If you mean the Coby RC-017 remote, it is not a universal remote that can be set to control any TV or other device. This remote will only work with the TV for which it was originally programmed. I believe it should work for a TF-TV1511, if both the remote transmitter and television IR sensor are working. Assuming you have the correct TV, try just pressing the power button.

I hope this helps.

Can I program my new Emerson TV remote with the Magnavox TV if the model # match?

If it has set-up code to your magnavox device, you can. Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

To ensure that your remote is working correctly (infrared) take your cell phone, switch on the camera mode, now point the remote towards the camera lens and press the remote button, you shall see a red light come up on your cell phone screen, if this means your remote is fine the problem is with the receiver on the television.

Direct tv works but remote doesn't

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

My remote control does not work

You could have a defective IR sensor in the tv set that sends the infared signal to the MIcroprocessor IC. These are something you cant just replace, as it needs to be trouble shot with a scope to see if theres a data signal comming out of the sensor and if there is it could be a bad solder connection somewhere between the sensor plug to the Main IC. Also could be the B+ that supplys voltage to the sensor. Unless you have had electronic repoair experience, You should have a pro assist you with this repair. Sorry I couldnt assist you more with this . Good Luck
