Question about Whirlpool GU2400XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Dishwasher not empytying

It goes through the cycle and washes but sometimes it makes a strange clanging sound as though something is stuck.

When the machine usually bleeps 3 times to say finished, it is now bleeping constantly until you open the door. Then when you open the door it is full of water at the bottom as though it is not emptying.

We have manged to fish out 2 pieces of glass thinking they were causing a blockage but it is still not emptying?

Any ideas???

Call a pro before you possibly cause damage to unit. the clanging you hear is probably something giving way when the drain pump kicks in and cannot turn. if your mechanicly adept and somewhat adventerous you may try to disassemble the pump and clear it yourself , but i advise against it.

During spin cycle the washer makes a loud thumping noise. Not a clanging/sharp noise. When I manually turn drum it sounds like something is loose inside. Like a ball may sound inside drum as it turns.

Is it a front loader? You may have something stuck between the tubs or it may be a broken "paddle" One of the plastic baffles that move the clothes around in the tub. they should all be tightly against the tub.

Dishwasher very noisy as it goes through it cycle. think its the water pump? sounds like bearings or impeller rubbing off the housing? not as noisy when the machine is cycling empty?

Could be bearings or something caught inside the impellar. If you take the wash arms off and run a cycle with water, it will "sometimes" blow out anything in the impellar. Undercounter machines are usually problematic - recommend avoiding them when possible.

Kenmore portable dishwasher not working

if you can get underneath it try spinning the motor manually (after turning off the circuit breaker). sometimes the motors on dishwashers get jammed.

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..

Loud Knocking/Ticking Sound During Cycle

have you lowered the top basket into the lower position? if so the spray arm will knock the cutlery /plates. it sounds as though it is a spray arm problem. remove them and put it in wash to see if the noise goes. if not there may be an obstruction in the wash pump, this is a stripdown job then.

Dishwasher sticking half way through cycle

Crawlmom, it sounds like your door latch assy. and switches are not making properly sometime during the wash. Therefore the two dashes. You want to make sure that the dishwasher is level and securely mounted. Another thing is, on this model, if a key pad is stuck, the dishwasher will stop and flash the stuck key. Im not sure where the red light is coming from. Without being there, I'm leaning on the door switch assy. Check this out first and post back. Catriver.
