Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Restarts after XP loading screen due to SP2

This is on a new computer with only WinRAR and a driver(Marvel ?????) for my ethernet port on it.

I recently installed XP Service Pack 2 on my computer which has XP Home Edition on it. When it restarted it said that something happened and gave me the choice on how to start up. If I choose normally or last known good configuration then it goes until the screen that says WINDOWS XP and then restarts. It will start in safe mode, which I did and uninstalled the SP2 and then the computer started fine. I tried reinstalling it and the same thing happened again. I need the service pack so the computer will recognize my two 300 Gb harddrives (it says they are only 128 right now). What do I do. Thanks to anybody who takes the time to write a response.

Repairing deletes SP2 and if I reinstall it the same thing happens. But I-tunes and Windows Media Player 11 both require it, so I need to try something else.

1, the problem can be resolved repair, reinstalling windows.
Boot from the windows Os cd , Press Enter on the first prompt, Accept the liscense agreemt by pressing F8 and press R on the third screen to repair windows.
You also told that the hdds that you are istalling are 300GB each,in some cases you need to install the hdd drivers to get them to recoganise them correctly . The same is given by the manufacturer on a CD.

Go in for a lower capcity hdd, rather than 300 gb . I suspect your motherboard is not supporting your configuration. Coz if its doing the same thing after repair and reinstalling the OS, it has to be something with the hardware.

FROM WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP SP2 LAN DRIVER FOR HP PROLIANT ML110 G6

Hi ppswalia

Since this is a Server, rather than an ordinary Desktop computer, it is not designed to work with normal Windows XP Operating Systems. It is designed to work specifically with Windows, Unix and Linux Server Applications. See here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3577715&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3577708

There are 2 things you can try.

You can try installing the LAN/Ethernet Drivers for the various Windows Server versions from the above official HP Downloads and Drivers Support Website and see if one of them just happens to coincidentally be compatible with XP SP2.

Assuming there are no further compatibility issues between other Server Motherboard Devices and Win XP SP2 Drivers, you could open the Server case and either bypass any on-board LAN/Ethernet/NIC Port or remove any separate LAN/Ethernet/Network Card installed and install, instead, a pre-confirmed Win XP compatible LAN/Ethernet/NIC Card and then install the drivers for the new card.

I hope this helps.

I loaded xp pro but my ethernet port is not active. Do I need to load ethernet drivers?

That means that the operating system doesn't have a database for your Ethernet device. You have to have the driver that came together with your PC and you should find the driver for your Ethernet device using that.

Reinstall and during the install press F6 when it ask if would like to install 3rd party drivers and have the driver disk for your hard drive ready and install those when ask.once it is done it should complete the xp install and restart correctly.

LOST ETHERNET DRIVER

If you have the "Windows XP" operating system then follow these instructions...If you have a second computer with an internet connection then you can search on the internet for that driver...type the make and model of your computer plus the word "ethernet driver" and after you find it you just download it into "My Documents"...after that, copy the driver onto a blank CD disc...Take the CD and put it into your notebook and it should open and extract the file ..If it doesn't open up when you load the CD, go into "My Computer" and then double click on the "CD/CDRW/DVD/DVD-RW drive...restart your computer and remove the CD from the disc drive...Now plug your DSL into your ethernet port and see if it works...if it still does not work then go into "Control Panel" and then "Network and Internet Connections" and then "Network Connections" and then "Create a New Connection" and then follow the instructions...restart your computer and see if it finds the ethernet port and receives the signal through the ethernet cord

USB 2.0 doesn't work on K8MM-V with XP PRO SP2???

bc3486e.gif

hey!

ok now the K8MM-V has several 'chipsets' yours has 8 usbs? yes?

then you have the:

VIA VT8237R Chipset...
- Integrated Faster Ethernet LPC
- Integrated Hardware Sound Blaster/Direct Sound AC97 audio
- Ultra DMA 66/100/133 master mode PCI EIDE controller
- ACPI
- Supports 2 Serial ATA ports
- Supports 8 USB2.0 ports

ok? now:

download a new BIOS! this means read the readme.txt please!

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=driverfile&dno=2383&i=1

<<this is the xp(64bit driver set>> (incase you are missing the 2.0 or yours is corrupt)

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=173

this is your BIOS (as i said please follow ALL instructions cause its inportant)

good luck!

after BIOS flash and driver updated go into the control panel > admin. settings > computer managment > device manager then look at the USB section and update the drivers!!

rerstart and volla!

good luck!
