I have the same exact problem. Power button light comes on and open/close button light comes on but no display or any other action. I had to take the cover off to manual eject the DVD from the drive. I don;t see any hope for it and guess I will just have to replace it. Basic out of warranty repair is $262 from Sony eSupport so I guess it is time for an upgrade.

If you are trying to use a combination of wall switch and pull chain control, the simple logic in the receiver can't figure out what to do. Try disconnecting all fan power at the source, removing and reinstalling the remote battery, restoring power, and trying all combinations of switch settings and power off - power on operation until you get results (or give up).

Cant progam not understanding the instructions

The best way to program with this remote is to follow these instructions.
1. Turn the device you wish to program on by hand 2. Press and hold the key for the device you are programming. (If it's a TV hold the TV button etc.) 3. While holding the button down, press and hold the power button down until the light turns off, and then back on. Once the light is back on release both keys. 4. Now, while pointing the remote at the device, hit the power button until the device turns off. Once the device turns off, you have found the right code. 5. Hit the stop button on the remote in order to save the code, and program the remote to that device.
This should work for most universal remotes these days. It might take you a long time to find the right code as well, the code list is very long so you just have to keep chugging through them. I've reprogrammed this type of remote many times and have hit the power button for over 5-10 minutes before the device turns off. Best of luck to you.

Have lost instructions to Emerson universal jumbo remote

Using Code Search:

1. Turn on the device you want to program into the remote.
2. Point your remote control at the device
3. Press and hold the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light on the remote stays on.
4. Press the button on the remote for the device you want to program. Push the "TV" button to program the TV, press the "DVD" button to program the DVD player, etc. The light on the remote control will blink and stay on.
5. Slowly press and release the power button repeatedly until the device turns off. Each time you push the power button the light should blink once.
6. Press "Enter" to save the code into the remote and the light will turn off.

Program a Manual Code:

1. First turn on the device that you want to program such as your TV or DVD player.
2. Point your remote control at the device.
3. Press the button on the remote that corresponds to the device. If you want to program the TV, press the TV button.
4. Press the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light stays on.
5. Enter the code for your device using the number pad. The light will blink each time you push a button. If the code works, the light will turn off. If the light flashes, that means the code did not work. There may be multiple codes for a device. If a code does not work, start from the beginning by holding down code search until the light stays on and use a new code.
6. Press the power button to test if your device turns off. It it does not turn off, repeat the process with a new code.

Retrieving the Code for your Device:

If you used the code search function to program your device and want to know the code for future reference, you can retrieve the code from the remote. To do this:

1. Press and hold the Code Search for 3 seconds until the light stays on.
2. Press the device button for the code you want to retrieve. Press TV to get the TV code, etc. The light will blink once and stay on.
3. Press the number buttons from 0 to 9. When the light blinks once, that signals the first number of the code.
4. Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd digits of the code. The light will turn off after you retrieve the 3rd digit.

Programming the Sleep Setting:

1. Press and hold the "SLEEP" button until the light stays on.
2. Use the number pad to enter 2 digits for how many minutes to use for the timer (01 to 99 minutes). The light will turn off and start timing.
3. Make sure the remote is pointing at your device.
4. To cancel the sleep timer, press the power button once or hold down the sleep button until the light flashes once.

I have a living solution remote control i lost the codes and i nneed to progam it to a sanyo tv

Try these steps to program your TV:
1. Turn off your device
2. Hold the button of what you want to program (TV,VCR,DVD) until the red LED light lights up
3. Press the power button
4. Keep pressing Channel up/down until the device turns on
5. Press “OK”
6. Press power and volume/channel buttons to check it
If you go too far and hit channel up/down again after it turns on, you missed the right code, so hit the opposite direction of what you were doing until it turns on again, then, hit “OK” to program the right code.

The code is 0081 and this is how you do it.

'4 digit' or 'Brand Set' method
1. Turn on your TV.

2. Press TV on your Sky remote control.

3. Hold down select and the red button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.

4. Press TV on your Sky remote control again.

5. Key in the Brand Set code for your brand of TV. The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
If the light blinks once only, re check the code for your TV and start again at step 1.

6. Press the on/off button (power-top right button on your Sky remote control).

If your TV switched off, press select . The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.

If your TV did not switch off, press TV , then press the on/off button. Repeat this (press TV , then on/off) until your TV turns off, then press select.

If the light on your Sky remote control blinks three times, your Sky digibox has checked all the possible settings for the code you used. Check that you have the right 4 digit code and start again at step 1.

7. Press TV guide .
If you see the TV Guide screen, the remote control setup process is complete.

If you did not see the TV Guide, you must now set the TV Guide function as follows:

8. Press TV on your Sky remote control.

9. Hold down select and the green button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice. The remote control setup process is complete.
