Won't power up and power button light flashes

My jvc av-48wp74 won't power up and the power light flashes. The speakers also make a thumping noise. I have already replaced and upgraded the stk's could this be a new problem? Maybe the power supply?

I replaced the 110's with 150's and the tv worked great for about 2 years and now this. This time the tv has different symtoms than before.I guess I will check them again. Thanks

I was watching the TV and it went gray, I heard a repetitive clicking as if it was trying to power up then a thumping from the speakers. I replaced the convergence board a year ago, but the symptoms were completely different. At that time the TV would power on no problem but the convergence was off and could not be adjusted. Even though the symptoms are much different, you still think it is the convergence board?

When you replaced the convergence amps did you check and replace the resistors? it seems like they always take out two or more resistors. the problem is on the convergence board, i have the same tv that did the same thing. if the speakers are still thumping, you may have got a dud amp. i recommend using the factory stk392-110 amps. make sure all of your solder connections are good and none of them are touching. also, when you get the set back on you will need to manually adjust the convergence from the menu. you will need the factory remote. if you find bad resistors, the values are on them, but if you need the values and wattage, then use this page:

hope this helps you.

Sounds like the TV needs some type of serivice. But just to cover your bases try unplunging it from the power from the wall and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in to the power and try to turn it on using the power button on TV rather then the remote. See if that works. If it doesnt call JVC.

The ICs are most likely defective if the old ones allow the set to power up.

Ic location

they are located in the front of the TV behind the speaker grille. Remove the screws from behind that secure the speaker grille and the two inside the small door below the control buttons, Then you will see a small access panel remove that and the ICs are on the skinny board up front. Do not remove the rear panel on your model with the cord plugged in or it will destroy the HD circuits

Blue light flashes

it is most likely the convergence panel. do your speakers make a thumping sound? if not, disregard this solution. change the stk392-110 convergence amps located behind the front cover on the convergence board. also check the resistors, it seems like they always take out two or more resistors. make sure all of your solder connections are good and none of them are touching. also, when you get the set back on you will need to manually adjust the convergence from the menu. you will need the factory remote. if you find bad resistors, the values are on them, but if you need the values and wattage, then use this page:

No Picture / No Sound

What was happening before can put you close to what when out. If you had color problems or sound, or even picture going small. these are symptoms that causes the set to go out. If color look in the convergence area and look for blown fuses and bad resistors. If just went out the look at horizontal output transistor.
