After running a full cycle the dishes have a film left on them. Sometimes soap is not rinsred off the dishes. Tried different soaps for dish washers. It seems the only thing to take the film off of the...

Film on dishes post cycle is caused by 2 things.... Poor water flow during the wash / rinse cycle.... i.e clogged sump inlets or restricted drains. Clean the drain hose first. Start at the cink connection and clean EVERY connection and in-line componenet from the port hole at the sink connection all the way back to the drain hise connection port at the dishwasher.

If you still have dirty dishes post cycle after drain cleaning... then remove the lower wash arm support and clean the accumulator / sump area thoroughly. See this link: (items 1 and 4) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5140844&diagram_id=28222738#d28222738

Test again.

If the problem persists you will have to gain access to the pump impeller. Inspect the impeller, and pump housing for damage. UNDER the dishwasher. Item 22 of the above link.

This should get your diswasher performing properly again.

I used this model number as a reference: GU2400XTPB1

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Maytag MDB5100AWB Dishwasher not draining

More than likely the filter is clogged, remove the spray arm(there is a threaded cap in the center of the arm twist it to the left, then remove the # 15 or 20 torx(star shaped) screws out of the filter cover(around the edges)The filter is round and runs around the outer edge of the pump housing it lifts right out, clean it and reverse the process. It's the most common issue with not draining on this model.

Doesn't clean plates.

Ross,

Try this before you decide your dishwasher is broken:

Go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) and use it. Re-evaluate after 2 loads of dishes. If problems continue, keep using the brand name powder but also:

With a screw driver. remove the filter shroud beneath the lower spray arm as far as possible (take pictures as you go) and rinse everything, including anything that looks like a mesh filter. Also, inspect all wash arms for blockages of any holes and clean them.

With a flashlight, find and remove all debris (watch out for broken glass!) Inspect the impeller for problems or not being tightly secured. Reassemble.

Test out. If problems continue and your dishes have a film on them, suspect that you heating element has failed. Replacing it will work wonders!

If problems continue, the problem is most likely a failing wash pump motor. If you replace it, your on you way.

GE dishwasher GSD2200G00WW dishes not clean

Make sure the spray arm is actually rotating and the jets aren't clogged. You should be able to hear the arm rotating when the dishwasher is operating.

Otherwise, perhaps the pump is plugged or not working and the water isn't "jetting"

that normally means that the lower arm is clogged or filter indeed clogged.
