Question about PC Desktops

3 Answers

I have a Panasonic mdl CF18KDHZXVM and need the power port mdl. DL3U3B471AAA. It was back ordered for 3 weeks by the Parts Store until they finally told me it wasn't available. I called Panasonic who refered me to Heartland who referred me back to Panasonoc. I've gotten over seven different numbers and no results. Can you tell mw where I can obtain this part or it's replacement? I'm rapidly losing interest in purchasing additional Panasonic units. I have an inspection company and this computer has been unusable for six weeks.

Hello, i have a dell inspiron 530 and when i turn it on, all you hear is the fan spinning and it doesnt stop. Nothing comes up on the screen and i've checked all the parts and everything seems fine....

Hello-

Welcome to FixYa, the world's largest product support community.

Most of the time if a Desktop computer turns on but you see nothing on the screen,
It may be an issue w/ the monitor or it's cable connection.

Please verify that the monitor cable is connected to the correct port. By default the Dell™ Inspiron™ 530 only comes w/ a VGA monitor port (built-in graphics adapter) at the back unless you installed a discrete graphics adapter on the computer.

If the monitor is connected to the correct port then you might consider running a monitor Power-on Self Test (P.O.S.T).

How to do a Monitor Power-on Self Test (P.O.S.T)
1. Unplug the monitor's data cable, this is the cable that goes to the back of your computer tower.
If you are using an old monitor most likely you have a VGA monitor. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Make sure the monitor's power cable is plugged in.
3. Turn the computer on.

Systemax Ascent HA3200 RTS won't boot - fans come on - no display

The motherboard seems OK as it is displaying signs of life. The Monitor should display something before booting up, which it is not. Please do the following. 1. Remove the RAM and reinsert the DIMMs into their sockets and boot up. 2. Disconnect the HDD data cable from the HDD and the motherboard and reconnect. Boot up. 3. Disconnect the monitor and reconnect. Boot up. At boot up press F2 and set the PC to default settings. Boot up. Later when you want to apply your settings, keep noting down what you did when. Just in case.

My CISNET desk top power supply fan needs replacing. Staples ordered the part - but I want to see if I can get it faster. Who sells them? Thanks. (I already googled). The hard drive was replaced 4 months...

A power supply is what is called an FRU (Field Replaceable Unit). Generally you don't replace parts on the power supply, it is cheaper to just order a new power supply. Also, office supply stores aren't usually the best places to buy computer parts. Try this place (http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=58&name=Power-Supplies&Order=PRICE). I have bought extensibly from them and have had absolutely no trouble.

Cannot boot or switch on

The power supply is faulty and needs to be replaced, undo the screws holding the top cover on, pull the cover up and away from the from the front, the power supply will be at the back on the right, there are four screws holding the power supply in place, they are at the back of the computer case, undo these and the power supply should come out, make a note of where the power connectors go before removing, take the power supply to your local pc store, as most power supplies are standered the compaq power supplies maybe slightly smaller in size, so your local store may have a replacement or you may have to order one straight from compaq. hope this helps. cheers.

Download the System Reference Manual here:

See page 24.

1 Locate the tab on the upper right side of the rear panel, and pull it
back until the side panel releases.
2 Lift the side panel away from the unit and set aside.

Broken black piece inside usb port

This is usually going to be a part replacement problem. the black piece is part of the connectors. and backs up or guides the connectors. you can go to your local computer parts store such as frys, or an electronics parts house. and buy the connectors unless it is one that is attached to the motherboard in the back of the computer. if this is the case and you do not have enough usb ports, then you have to get an external usb hub. usually a powered hub is best.

Sometimes I hit the power button on my s3710t and it won't turn on. What should happen when it comes on properly is that the power button should turn blue that indicates the unit is turning on. Rather what...

These are usually symptoms that lead to your power supply. I would say that your power supply is on its way out the door. If this unit is under warranty, call Dell.

Hope this helps.

Comp. powers on, shuts down three times then goes into powersave

You may want to check the power supply fan whether it works properly or not. Also, you may need to check your BIOS setup if you had done anything with it.

Firewire

firewire is a lot like usb in the power area if the drive is not getting power i would suspect the firewire port. firewire did not become very popular because of problems like these. You need to go down to a computer parts store and by a firewire card and that should provide enough power and bypass the on-board ports. Try to hook another device up to the firewire ports and see if they work if not install the daughterboard with firewire ports

Three Beeps

Was there a screen message when the 3 beeps occured, as this sometimes indicates that the cmos time and date are incorrect, so check your time in the bios (f2 or Del on boot up), if it's wrong the cmos battery will need changing.
