I have a 42 LCD Philipps TV (42PLF5332D) which is less then two years old. Last week while watching tv, the screen started to screamble and then went black. However, we do have volume and we can still manipulate the tv presets. Do you have any suggestions to what the problem is? And if so, is it worth repairing?

Check the software and if it is not EJ30U_0.101.0.0 go to and put the firmware onto a USB stick. It will give you all the instruction on how to do it. If the set still turns off the problem is the SSB. Contact Philips @1-888-744-5477 and have your receipt to make sure the unit is under warranty and they will have a tech come out and fix the set.

My Mitsubishi WD 82838 TV turns off by itself without warning.

An update can cause issues

Most of these sets have two different resets done with the remote--the soft one on most but not all is with set on: Menu, 1,2,3 enter.

I am not speaking about the reset button on the set if it has that but a remote reset with Mitsubishi remote.

The hard reset (everything back to factory) uses a 4 digit number code

see if 1,2,3 helps or not---I doubt once upgrade done it will be easy to go back---Mitsubishi used to mail out a upgrade---seen more than a few sets with suddenly new issues after the upgrade.

My tv just turn's itself off and doesn't come back on for ages!!!

have a reputable shop check the "known to fail "power supply capacitors....they may not be filtering the power correctly to the main control board....that would be the next suspect

Sharp TV switches to "input 2"

Mine does the exact same thing. I've had it for a few years no, and it just started doing this. It's so annoying. I don't think the weather has anything to do with it, though. It started switching itself just every once in a while, not it is almost every time I turn it on. Sometimes it takes an hour or so to start doing this, other times it's right away. Help!!

I have a Samsung rear projection tv, it used to turn itself off every 5 - 10 minutes for about an hour then it seemed to work ok. I removed the rear cover and cleaned the cooling fans, has worked fine since.

Warning! Don't do this unless you are competent with electrical devices.
