Otacon provided me with a temporary remedy to my "servicing the, waste ink absorber, on a Canon printer" problem, but I lost it and would like to have it again, if possible? I copied and pasted below, the last comment I made to him(?), as a referance point for you. I've allready contacted Canon and was told to get a new printer but I just want to get this one to limp along just a bit longer with a temporary fix. So could you please resend that message again?

What you are explaining should work. If you need prior activity reports from previous faxes, you can press Function then 2 (Act. Report)
I think you might need to press Function, then 7 then 1
From the manual:
Transmission Verification (Xmit) Report You can use the Xmit Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists the time and date of transmission, and whether the transmission was successful.
When the feature is OFF, the report is printed automatically only if an error occurred during transmission. If the report indicates NG, send the document again. If the report indicates you should check the readability of certain pages, resend those pages. If you typically send multiple faxes to the same destinations, you may need a reminder to identify each fax transmission. You can select OFF+IMAGE or ON+IMAGE to print a portion of the first page of the fax message on the report.
1 For the FAX, press Function , 7 , 1 . For the MFC, press Function , 1 , 7 , 1 . 2 Press or to select OFF, OFF+IMAGE, ON or ON+IMAGE and press Set . 3 Press Stop to exit.
This error is common in all the newer variants of canon printers.. Canon charges 50-80$ to fix it! But it can be fixed by following the steps below:
1) Close the print head
cover, and turn off the printer. While pressing the Resume/Cancel
button, press the Power button. (Do not release the buttons. The LED
lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.)
2) While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (Do not release the Power button.)
While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button three
times, and then release the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time
the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
either orange or green, starting with o
When the LED stops blinking and lights in green, press the
Resume/Cancel button the 4 times. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button
is pressed, the LED lights alternately in either orange or green,
starting with orange.)
5) Press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the
selected function is performed. (When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically.)
6) Power off then back on and test.

Solution one: Perform a fax line test
Perform a fax line test to check whether the fax line is properly connected.
Step one: Run a Fax Test
Press the Setup
) on the product control panel.
Use the Arrow
) to select Service
, select Fax Service
, select Run Fax Test

The Fax Test prints.
If the report passes, try to resend the fax.

active,' plug the cable into a working telephone jack, and then try to

Solution: Check paper size
This product only supports paper less than 381 mm (15 in). Use only letter, A4, or legal sized paper for sending faxes.
To send this fax, copy or print the original document onto shorter paper, and then resend.
