Question about KitchenAid (KSRD22FKST) Side by Side Refrigerator

I have a side by side Kitchenaide Model ksrv22, It...

I have a side by side Kitchenaide Model ksrv22 It is only 3 months old. Just over this past week there is a strong chemical smell coming out of both freezer and fridge. We have had no spills or spoiled food on either side. It does not smell like spoiled food anyway. It smells like iodine. I have already cleaned twice just to be sure. I have baking soda on both sides all food and ice is picking up odor and now has bad taste. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

try putting crumpled newspaper in it daily to get rid of the smell, the coolant if leaking should not cause any horrible smell, Freon they use today has very little smell to it. Frost free units have heaters and fans in them to keep them frost free. It could be that a fan quit and the heater overheated something around it."

Let me know if this helps, good luck

Hi,

HERE ARE 10 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO REMOVE THE BAD SMELL:

1. CharcoalCharcoal is on top of my list as it is one of the best absorbent agents that can absorb and soak up the bad odour. Charcoal is also widely used as water filters and in most odour removing commercial products. You can put a medium-sized chunk of charcoal inside your smelly refrigerator for instance, and leave it there for a couple of days. You will notice that it can effectively remove the bad smell.
2. Baking SodaBaking soda is also a good absorbent. Put a generous amount of baking soda in an uncovered container (the size of the container depends on the size of the confined area) and leave it for several days. Remove the baking soda and replace it with new one and leave it for a couple of days. Continue replacing the baking soda until it has cleared the bad smell.
3. Lemon or Lime PeelJust put some lemon or lime peels into an uncovered container and leave them inside the confined area for a couple of days. The citrus smell will naturally replace the bad smell.
4. Pandan Leaf (also known as Pandanus or Screwpine)It is easy to get pandan leaf in tropical countries as it is widely used in Southeast Asian cooking to add aroma to dishes. Its pleasant aroma also acts as natural air freshener. Just take a few strips of the pandan leaves and tie them into knots. Place the leaves inside the confined space and leave them until the leaves withered or dried up. Replace the leaves regularly until the smell goes away.
5. Vanilla Essence Pour several drops of vanilla essence on a couple of cotton wools. Toss the cotton wools inside the confined space such as your wardrobe. Leave them for several days and you will notice that the area smells nice.
6. Mint Extract If you favor neither the smell of citrus nor vanilla, you can perhaps use mint extract instead. Pour several drops of mint extract on a couple of cotton wools. Toss the cotton wools inside the confined space and leave them for a couple of days.
7. Fresh Ground CoffeeGround coffee has a nice, crisp natural aroma. Just put about a cup of ground coffee in a flat, uncovered container. Place the container inside the confined space for several days. If the bad smell is extremely horrible, put more ground coffee. The area will smell of fresh coffee for many days.
8. Tea BagsIf you don't like coffee, you can use tea bags instead. Just place 2-3 tea bags inside the confined space. The tealeaves in the bags will not only absorb the bad smell but also will release the natural aroma of tea.
9. Orange and ClovesGet an orange and poke it with sharp objects like needle or fork to form small holes. Place each of the cloves inside these small holes until most of the orange surfaces are covered. It may look like a hedgehog with the cloves jutting out of the orange fruit. Leave it in the confined area for a couple of days. The area will smell nice with the said combinations.
10. Old Newspaper and Slices of BreadOld newspaper and slices of bread also work wonders in absorbing the bad odours particularly inside the refrigerator. Just place some crumpled old newspaper and two slices of bread (uncovered) inside your refrigerator and leave them for two days. Replace them (especially the bread) regularly until the bad smell is removed.

You can also use the combination of any of the above tips together, to effectively remove bad smell. Try those tips and you will say goodbye to bad smells forever.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution.

I have a Kitchenaide side by side frig and freezer. The freezer is a model KSCS251 and about ten years old. It has got a loose freezer handle. what do I need to tighten it.

There should be a few more letters and numbers in the model number. I suspect the 1 should be read as an I. Look up your model here: https://www.kitchenaid.com/customer-service/manuals/ .

For the KSCS25INMS03, there are set screw on the top and bottom of the handle for the freezer. The screws are visible from the side of the handle facing the refrigerator section of the side-by-side design. See the freezer door parts diagram for your model. One model parts diagram is here: https://www.kitchenaid.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20W10128953.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I have a new side 26.4 cu side by side refrig 12/16/10, and my ice maker is not producing any ice and hasn't in the past couple of days. What can I do?

Did it ever? Is the water turned on? If it is only 2 weeks old Call the store you got it from or look through your warranty papers. Most have at least 12 months warranty.

My refrigerator is six years old and for the past two months is making a loud buzzing noise. The frequency has increased over time. What could it be? It's an Amana side by side model ASD2626HE. Sounds like...

Saw your post a week late but the sound could be the start relay on compressor is weaking or if the water is turned off to ice maker the water control valve will try to fill ice maker if the ice make switch is left on and has no water. I will send a manual shortly, Sea Breeze

I have a KitchenAide model KUDPO1FLBT2 dishwasher. When you open it, the door drops all the way down. What's wrong?

Most likely the Link - Door balance - brocken and need replacement. Remember the replacement parts come in 2 of everything that is for both sides on the door, even the other side is working but change it anyway , that is to get a even balance on both side, if you only change one side, the other side will go sooner or later and remember change everythings come in the package. Don't use the old one like the spring seen to be in good working order.God Bless.
