How to make the freezer door on a kenmore elite 74033 tilt

Refrig of the year: Kenmore Elite 74033 Refrigerator
Consumer Reports Rated: Excellent

Hello Charles,

Just when I'm thinking Sears SERVICE is NOT some sort
of sad/bad joke... you put in a Kenmore Elite Model number...

continued search found your Owners Manual... Pages 10 & 16 are what you want

The front should be slightly higher than the rear to aid in door closing... (page 10)

Your refrigerator has two front leveling legs-one on the right and one on the left. Adjust the legs to alter the tilt from front-to-back or side-to-side. If your refrigerator seems unsteady, or you want the doors to close more easily, adjust the refrigerator's tilt using the instructions below: NOTE: Tools Required: 11/16" wrench or flat blade screwdriver.
1. Turn the leveling leg to the left to raise that side of the refrigerator or to the right to lower it. It may take several turns of the leveling leg to adjust the tilt of the refrigerator.
NOTE: Having someone push backward against the top of the refrigerator takes some weight off of the leveling legs. This makes it easier to adjust the legs.
2. Open both doors again and check to make sure that they close easily. If the doors do not close easily, tilt the refrigerator slightly more to the rear by turning both leveling legs to the left. It may take several more turns, and you should turn both leveling legs the same amount... (page 16)

`` After that...

All you have to do to maximize that efficiency is keep the closure area free of pizza boxes, ice cubes or errant frozen food bags.

Hope this was helpful...

Level a refrig

Hello Alax;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration.

Your Hot Point only has two jack screws in the front, one on each side. To raise you turn counterclockwise. To lower turn clockwise.

These are difficult to turn the bearing part that makes contact with the floor is very thin. Sometimes you will receive a flat wrench to do this when you purchase the unit. You can use a pair of channel locks or a large box wrench. Do to the available space a crescent wrench will be too large.

Note: You refrigerator does not have to be leveled perfectly, but within reason.

Concentrate on leveling the front. If you have a professional level with a bubble in the center that's good. Get the bubble as close to the center as possible. If you do not have a level, Put a golf ball or base ball on top of the freezer gasket in the center. Gently push the ball with your finger both left and the right. Remember you want to level within reason.

How, here is the most critical part. You want the refrigerator to have a slight pitch towards to back. The purpose is to assist the refrigerator doors to close. Too great a pitch the doors will slam shut. Not enough pitch the door will not close by themselves. First, open the fresh food door about half way and let go. Does it close by itself? This is what you want. Does it slam shut. This is not what you want. Turn each jack bolt equally in 1/2 turn adjustments either to raise or lower to meet the desired door closing assistance

I have a Magic Chef refrigerator Model GT17A7V, Serial 11993269QS. It does have wheels, but we needed to adjust the wheels in order to make it easier to roll. Problem: The refrig & freezer doors now...

Unfortunately, when you adjusted the wheels to be able to roll it easier, you thru off the tilt required for your doors to swing the way they should.

You are going to have to adjust them again, to have a front (high) to back (low) tilt. If you have a right hinged model it should be adjusted very slightly higher than the left.

My model is ARB 1914 CC nine years old.

your "damper vent door" located between the refrigerator and freezer compartments is frozen open or the cold adjustment contron in the refrige is bad and not powering the door as you change the temp set for the refrige and leaving it open,if the door is frozen from ice/frost just de-ice it with a hair dryer and then set the temp adjust and see if it opens and closes with any adjustment

The freezer is freezing but the refrigerator is not getting cold why?

check the damper door vent located between the refrige and freezer for being iced up and stuck shut,if cold air from freezer can't get past thid door the refrige will warm up,if this isnt the problem, adjust the refrige temp control and watch and see if this makes this door open and close as you adjust the temp of the refrige compartment

Frigidaire FRT17G4BW9 doors not staying closed

Adjust the front legs of your refrigerator slightly to raise the refrigerator. and and store items on the freezer door shelves to add weight. This is a problem of pneumatics and a testament to how tight newer refrigerators are. When you close the large refrigerator door it compresses the air in the refrigerator compartment. Both compartments are connected by air passages and thus the pressure change is transferred to the freezer causing the freezer door to pop open.

Raising the front of the refrigerator a tiny bit will help both doors close from the 90 degree point, which is desirable. Adding weight to the shelf will just help the process.

An additional aid in self-closure will be to use vegetable oil on a paper towel to wipe down the hinge side face of both door seals. All these maneuvers should aid in causing the door to stay closed and re-close if it should open slightly. Good Luck

Whirlpool gd5thgxks01 door does not auto close

You need to level the refrigerator slightly backwards so the weight of the door closes it automatically. The front legs are adjustable, so just turn them until the door closes on its own.
