I had a similar problem and after searching, eveshams demise in the USA had to do with the really cheap SD cards they used. They would corrupt and lose data. I got my fix on ebay in the way of a new SD card. Search Evesham N30 on ebay and you will find the seller I got mine from
Go to their website, follow the directions for download and installing of upgraded software. I have done this and the device is working better, but am still trying to perfect it. Evidently, this company has gone BK and the support numbers are of no use.

Tip: The max point reward for answering a question is 15.
1- Turn off unit. 2- press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen. 3-While still pressing and holding bottom right corner, press and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen appears with a black dot. 4- follow the on screen directions and your unit will be back to the day you first got it.
The "Origional" software will not allow you to input a street address. The newer N30 software will input street addresses, as well many more POI's, as well as via directions. I have the original software, plus the newer N30 software. Let me know if I can help! Joe
