Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

Regarding the Nikon 5700

I have a Nikon 5700 that my father gave to me as a graduation gift from college. The screen is completely black as well as when you look into the camera to take a picture. The camera is about 4 years old. This is the first time we have ever had a problem with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Natasha

I'm having the same problem. The display options are there, but the screen/monitor is completely black and I cannot tell what I'm shooting. I haven't even tried taking photos. All other functions of the camera seem to be in perfect working order! It's frustrating - if anyone can help me, please contact me at pourboy65@aol.com. Thanks, Daniel

Screen black, but with all menu options visible. Black screen after taking a picture

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Nikon service center. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

seems like this is a banding problem. Nikon has issued a service advisory on some of their Coolpix models including the 5700. So they will fix this issue free of cost. This is an issue with the sensor. Please contact the nearest authorized service center.

Try the menus, if they work, possible that the ccd is bad.
