Hey, My ipod is a 30gb, and for some reason all of a sudden it’s not working properly. It would come up to the main menu, but the buttons(menu, select, etc.) will not work. The only way I can get it to the main menu is to restart the ipod itself by holding in the menu and select buttons. This is the only point where the buttons will work. I’ve just tried to restore it and that brought it to the language screen, but now it will freeze. I’ve tried toggeling the hold button but that will not work either. Odly enough, it says it’s charging or charged for a long period of time after I have already taken it off the charger or off of the computer wire. What can I do?

Don't worry, before you call it broken you should try a hard reset: press menu and center buttons together for 5 sec. That will turn it off and restart it. If it keeps freezing on you, there may be a hard drive issue. There are ipod repair guides online that show you how to replace it.
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons
until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to
repeat this step.
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set
it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button
is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you
are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and
not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting
iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical
outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is
turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides
back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round
button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see
an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will
shut off, then back on.
