I replaced both ics and all the resistors .27,2.2,82,120 and I still have the same problem with all three colors bowing servely. The screen is full and when I go into the customer menu to adjust conv. everything moves but the red. It will move left to right but not up and down. The blue will move both directons but bowing and won't line up squarely over the green/white. The green moves up and down and left to right. I'm checking and replacing the capacitors around the ics. Also I do have the schematic now.

I have check those micro chips and I have continuity on all of them.

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

I have checked in circuit they both check the same. I compare the reading with an ohm meter from one ic transistor to the other and they read the same. Also the faces on the screen have a negative look shiny.

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

    Ok thanks!!!!!!!!

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

I located Q7006 that feeds IC 7001, is that the one your refering to. This is the one I compared readings with Q7007 in circuit and they both reading the same unless they are both bad which if that was the case the other colors would not move. Do you agree??

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

Also to answer a question that you asked, I ohmed out each pin from both IC's thur the etching/tracer to the next component and I had contiunity on all connections. I have even installed another set of new ICs stk 392-180s thinking that the new 110s were diffective or I applied to much heat when soldering. I get the same results with the 180s as I did with the 110s

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

No I have not checked the L017 or the L016. But I will this evening when I get home. Thanks I let you know what the results will be.

    Thanks

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

I replaced the 0.27 both of them and all the 2.2,82,120s and ohmed out the 3.3k which showed good. I'm looking at the schematic and I don't see the L016 or L017?

  • Mason kid Apr 09, 2008

Ok great if one or both are open what would I replace them with?

  • Mason kid Apr 10, 2008

Ok I'm home now, and I have continuity on all the ferrite beads. I checked them in circuit with them being a fusible link they should in series right???

  • Mason kid Apr 10, 2008

Ok unable to contact you due to storm and no internet last night.

Anyway replaced all caps. C7001 thru C7006. I am now able to move all three colors up, down, left, and right. However the picture is still severly bowed at top and bottom with all three colors. The top of the screen starting at top has a three to four in yellow spot, guessing its the blue and green over lapping each other. The bottom of the screen you can clearly see the seperation of all three colors. The center of the screen also has separation but not as severe as top and bottom. Should I go into the service menu and try to adjust vertical and horizontal. Also the faces have a negative/shiny look to them. Once everything converges do you think the negative look will go away or is there another problem. Did not have this negative look when I first started the repair.

  • Mason kid Apr 11, 2008

I was able to locate L016 but not the other. L016 in circuit had continuity. I will look closer when i get home tonight for the other. If the L017 is open would I be able to bypass/jumper temporarily to see if that corrects things. Also any luck with finding the rating for the ferrite bead should it be open?

Ok thanks I'll let you know what happens.

I am having a problem with my pt-47wx49e tv convergence. At the begining the red was all over the place. Blue and green were fine. From reading other peoples problems i found a way to get on the service guide on the tv. since that didnt work i replaced both stk392-110's. The red got a little better then before. i still had to adjust, but then all hell broke loose. at this time not only the red is out of wack, the green and blue too.i really would like to have a schematic on this type of board (TNPH0370) or some help.

on the back of the board in the area of the convergence ICs there are a series of tan micro chips. check these in circuit for continuity. I have seen 1 or 2 of them go open when the ICs go out

Have you double checked all the IC pins to be certain they all are solderd ? I am not sure of the number but there is a transistor that feed voltages to the red IC I dont have the schematics with me here they are at the office. If you can locate that check to see that its not open. I believe its Q706 if memory serves me right.

When you replaced the resistors. Did you replace all 12 of them? Also if you look at the heatsink there are two fusible links L016 and L017 did you check these links They are mounted on the component side right near the end of the Heatsink L017 is near IC70001 and L016 Is For IC7002.

they are most likely not in the schematic as they are only a safety item for each IC but you will see them right on the corner of the heatsink. component side

They are usually 2 watt fuses. I will check and post again in an hour or so.

ferrite beads are what they actually are I dont have the rating in my service info, let me check into it further.

I would say yes simply because they arent listed in the schematics so they should just be treated as a slow blow pico possibly a 3.5 amp.

No voltage to convergence chips

There are usually 2 micro fuses that resemble 1/4 watt resisters around the power supply, and are usually all green, tan or yellow, and in most cases will have a + or - voltage marked right near these fuses 20 to 25 volts dc typical.

Where the wire goes

Try looking on the focus block in the front of the set. Take off the speaker grill, take the screws off the "wood door" and you will see the focus block on the front with six controls on it. Of course make sure the set is unplugged before sticking your hand inside the set. Leadtech
