When I try to scan my computer does not see the scanner but I have no roblem rinting

This is a common problem with all-in-one printer/scanner combos. Printer drivers and Scanner drivers are installed seperately unless the driver cd is REALLY high-speed (i've never seen it work once). What you'll need to do is open your control panel, go to "scanners and cameras" and click "add an imaging device" (on the left side of the window). It'll start a wizard to walk you through the steps of installing the scanner. Make sure the scanner is connected and turned on, and that you have your driver cd/installation disc loaded. If you dont have the disc, then you'll need to have the drivers in a folder somewhere on your pc, and you'll have to manually point the wizard to that folder. This should square you away. Good Luck

I am trying to Scan to PC, but the printer does not show my PC on the options, however, I can see other PCs

do it the other way around...make the command from the pc...using the "scanner and camera" feature from the all programs /accessories ..import from device ...
or ..if you have the scanners software into the pc ..run it to scan the document ..and save the job from the scanner's directory ..
if your pc it is not seen ..verify if the printer/scanner's driver it is still installed into the pc ....
or..another way to do it ..is to use a photo manager ...into the computer ...that have a import from device action /feature ...and this will allow you to import any job from the scanner..by choosing the twain function and the name of the printer..

Scanning

As with most scanners, place the document in the scanner for scanning. Open the software that you wish to use. Select "File" from the menu and then "Import". Your scanner interface listing should appear. Click on the device to begin your import from your scanner. Your scanner should scan the document and it will appear in your application. Be advised, Scanners scan in a Graphic format. To edit in a wordprocessor you will need some kind of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Software to convert the graphics into a wordable form for editing.

Try and open MS Word and import a picture into a document via scan, follow the prompts in Word and it should work fine. If you don,t have MS Word you can download a completely compatible application at Open Office.org. It also has the same functionality is free and allows you to save documents as .doc, .xls, etc. Sometimes a scanner requires additional software or drivers in addition to functioning as a printer. I have found scanning internal to an application a workaround or test for the scanner. If this works I would review the installation or contact the manufacturer or website. Or post and we can give it another try.

Try carefully taking the scanner apart and cleaning it out. A buildup of dust, even a thin layer can greatly reduce the quality of your scans.

Dell 1815 dn printer scanner issue: single line appears in scans

Do you get the same line when you use the adf for other purposes?

If so, check the scanner glass just before the platen for something like white-out on it. Clean both the scanner glass and platen glass with Windex.

That is a common problem on all ADF scanners.

Good Luck

Canon Pixma MP 470 Not Scannin

I have the printer. You need to scan through your image software on your desktop. The button on the scanner does not function.

With your image software, there should be an "Import from Camera" and "Import from Scanner." Pick the latter, and it will prompt you through the process.

Took quite awhile to figure that out.

Experienced the same problem.
The Dutch importer suggested to try photogallery, but was not sure of it. Howevr it proved to be the solution.
Open <windows photogallery>, then <files>, click on <import from camera and scvanner>, then click on <import>.
If your printer is switched <on> it now will start scanning and send the result in your file <pictures>, normally on your C:disc.
I just tried it and it functions well, at least in black-and-white.
Still have to check the color scanning, but that will probably no problem either.
Hope to have helped you, yours GerritDelden.
