How to unlock your car stereo, Mercedes Audio 10 stereo ... I had already phoned my local Mercedes dealer for the radio codeof my ML270, .... Mercedes Benz Car Stereo Removal and Repair 1994-1999 - Duration: 4:00. by ...
the radio code is located one of two places
1.) in the original paper work
2.) internal to the radio
the only way to retrive the internal code is with a professional scanner
If you talk nicely to the dealer and tell them how much you like the factory radio and would HATE to replace it with an aftermarket radio, they may pull the code for free
This code is to prevent stolen radios being sold, so the only way to get the code is to go to the local car dealership. You will need to take your licence, registration papers, and proof of purchase before they will release the code to you. But if you bought the radio second-hand, forget it.
The original radio was made by Becker. I bought one for my 87 560SL on e-bay, payed 50 bucks, some require a 4 digit activation code so ask for that. here is a link to the different models of Becker stereos, just click on the year of your car. http://web.mac.com/dakota/Mercedes/Becker.html
If your lucky the code may have been written down in the manual book and instructions on how to enter the code. If there was no codes you can try 0000 and see if that works which is the default if no security codes were programed.
If that does not work go to www.radio-code.com. I think it's like $9.00 and they can retrieve the codes for you.
Good luck and hope this helps.
The main dealer will supply the code usually for a small charge.
Have a look on line first though because some are offered freely .
You will need the model year and chassis number.
