Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

1 Answer

Installation problem I am trying to setup my new wireless router. I have Dell desktop and IBM ThinkPad laptop. Windows XP on both. According to lights router is working correctly, but when I run the setup assistant on the desktop during step 1 I get this message: "The Setup Assistant is not able to connect to the Router via any of the network adapters on this computer. Please go back to the Quick Installation Guide and make sure all physical connections are correct (which I have done and I have also rebooted my computer with no success). Also, please power cycle the Router and make sure that the Router has power and that the appropriate lights are on(see guide)", which I have done several times with no success. I called Belkin, got no help, I told the guy about the above message, and he says that since I have an internet connection dont worry about the message, then hung up in my face!! Any suggestions?

Hi,

Initially, I would suggest that you connect either your Dell desktop and IBM ThinkPad laptop using a wired LAN cable to any of the Ethernet Port 1~4 of the router and verify that your PC is set to Auto obtain an IP address. Thereafter pls go through the setup procedures again.

If this is how you have connected your router and PCs, pls post back that we can figurre something else.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I am tryin to setup wireless in my ibm 2647 labtop can u tell me how

first: do you have a wifi-capable router? ensure that you do, and that it is hooked up properly.
next, are you sure your laptop is capable of wifi?
if there is a wifi switch on your laptop, flip it to the on position.

if you're running windows:
right click on the taskbar. you should see a signal/strength bar either with a red X or a gold circle.
if it's a gold circle, right click. find your enabled wifi router name, and connect.

Dell Inspiron 2200; Win XP pro; detect router but no connect

Have you change settings on your router? if not try to disconnect and reconnect your dell computer. if still not working. turn off both laptop, turn off the router and modem. wait for 10-20 seconds then turn on the modem first, and if the modem is stable, turn on the router, and if it is stable, turn on the dell computer and try to connect. If still fails, try to delete wireless profile adn recreate it. If still fails, check device manger if there is a problem in your wireless driver. If still cannot connect, perform system restore.

I cant get a wireless connection on my IBM R40 using a Linksys G

I had the same problem with my R40 (2681) and a Linksys G router. The specs on IBM's/Lenovo's site indicate that the wireless card in the R40 only handles certain types of wireless encryption. The newer types (e.g. WPA) won't work on it and they are usually the standard on routers nowadays. My Linksys G router works fine with the R40 with WEP or with no encryption. Not ideal, but that's life with an old laptop.

The IBM Recovery Disk that comes with those laptops is set up for Windows 2000, not Windows XP Pro. The answer is No, you cannot use the IBM Recovery Disk for them, if you install Windows XP Pro.

However! You will have a recovery disk, because you will have the Full Installation disk for Each laptop. Windows XP Pro Full Installation Disk.

(Microsoft Users License states "One genuine copy of Windows per One computer" That means you need Two, genuine copies of Microsoft Windows XP Pro)
