Question about Viking VWH3048 Kitchen Hood
We have a viking range hood, similar to the VWH3048, the difference is ours has the 1200 blower. The other day, both of our lights went out. We thought it was strange that they went out at the same time, but we went ahead and changed the lights. To our dismay, the new lights didn't come on. Is this something that we can fix ourselves? Any ideas on what happened, my husband thinks that it is either a short or the sockets burned out. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have the same problem what is it

Part PE050033 no longer exists. It's now two parts: PE050141 for the light and PE050156 for the fan. You must first remove all of the small switches then pull off the front panel to tighten the small nuts that hold the new units in place.

I'm just an average do-it-yourselfer....this was more intimidating than it really is. Go to www.allvikingparts.com as long as you know what model number you have the guys there will make sure you get the right part.
1) Throw the breaker to the circuit the lights are on2) Remove the grease traps and trim from the front section of the hood3) Remove the 3 sheet metal screws slowly from the hood....the hood will fold forwards about 6-8 inches...don't go too far4) Disconnect the existing dimmer...I found it was easier to work with by disconnecting the red wire first, then carefully push the on/off switch from behind to disconnect the black wire. Remove the dial and carefully unscrew the nut holding it in place....remove defective unit.5) Snake the black wire through where the on/off switch goes and connect it (they don't give you alot of play in the wiring so be careful. Attach red wire. Test it to make sure it works. Place the toggle back through the whole and carefully screw it back in. Replace the dial.6) Fold back into place and screw 3 sheet metal screws back in....7)Put grease traps and trim back together....
8)Brag to your buddies what a great handyman you are....and your wife too!
