Disconnect the power.....PLEASE!

Look under each side if the control panel on the bottom. There you will find 2 1/4 inch screws....unscrew these about 6 full turns...this lowers the hooks that hold control panel in place...it is hinged and will flip down...sometimes you have to pry it down gently!
Once the panel is down you disconnect the white wire connector going to the door switch and remove the 2 screws holding the front cover on....then carefully lift up on the front cover to unhook it from the 2 hooks on top...kind of slides up and out. The tub is going to stay inside and drop down...the front cover supports the tub. At this time you can remove the tub and clean out all the lint...(recommended)

Putting the front cover back on is a little tricky...you have get it attached on the top hooks and then pick up on the tub to put it on the bearing ring in the front cover ..then put the 2 screws back in...3 hands are nice to have now.

Let me know if you need any further help. Thank you and have a good day.

no easier way, this isn't too bad, There are less than 10 screws when you do this and basically it is just a bunch of big pieces

    Benjamin Patri Apr 07, 2008

They are pretty simple machines, it is basically a frame with panels on the outside and some parts on the inside. very basic, what kind of details are you looking for?

    Benjamin Patri Apr 07, 2008

to get the belt on, you just need to wind it on which I mean by that get the belt started around a pulley and turn the pulley and you should be able to pry it on, a screwdriver may help but it shouldn't be too difficult

were you able to get it repaired? If it is all one panel then it all needs to come off, some models there is more than one panel

    thank you

    Tip

Drive Belt Installation on a Whirlpool Front Loading Washer

This advice is on how to replace the drive belt on Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite front loader washing machines. To replace the drive belt on a Whirlpool Duet washer, follow these steps:

    1. Unplug the washer and turn the washing machine around so you can access the back panel. Remove the rear panel by locating and loosening the screws around the perimeter of the panel.

    2. Loop the drive belt on the drive motor pulley with the ribbed side on the pulley. Leave a one-groove gap between the belt and the end of the pulley.

    3. Take both hands and pull straight up on the belt and place on the drum pulley beginning on the left hand side.

    4. Hold the belt firmly in place and slowly turn the drum pulley to the right while holding the belt in place. The belt will eventually align and hold in place on the drum pulley.

NOTE: This may require some effort to get the belt in place.

If you have any questions, or are uncertain if these steps apply to your washer (some newer model Maytag front loaders are now manufactured by Whirlpool) please provide me with a model number and I can let you know if these steps apply. I hope this information is helpful.

    Washer does not spin

Hi, There are several causes for this problem. Check these.

    • No spin at all: the lid switch is fried. You test it with your meter.                                  There will be a motor which spins the washing machine's drum.                                              If you don't hear the motor running, then its the lid switch which would have been broken and needs replacing. A bad lid switch wil interrupt the spin cycle.

    • In the Whirlpool washers, a common problem is that the lid plunger stops making contact with the lid switch. Use a pen to manually press the lid switch actuator (with the lid up, duh). If the washer spins...well, you know the rest.

    • Older (belt-drive) Whirlpool: the spin solenoid is burned out or has cut wires. Ohm out that solenoid (20-30 ohms) and test with a test cord. Make sure the wires are intact by giving them a little tug. If this is OK, you may need to adjust/replace the basket drive.

    • Timer is fried. On older timers, it's sometimes possible to run an external jumper to replace the bad internal contacts. Usually, however, the entire timer must be replaced. The only way to confirm is to use your meter and wiring diagram.

These are the causes that have to be inspected. You can also visit this site www.whirlpool.com/custserv/index.jsp

Hope my info solves your problem, Thanx for using fixya, Good luck.
