Question about Whirlpool ED2SHAXM Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Refrigerator door will not stay closed

You can shut the door but it will come back open about 3 inches

    My woodmode cabinets have self-closing doors with hidden hinges. Some of the doors bounce back about 1/4 to 1/2 inch when they are shut, instead of staying flush with the cabinet.

Freezer Door

There is usually some adjustment on the hinges. Your is termed buttbound, the door at the hinges is too close so it makes the door pop open. Take everything out of the inside door shelves if there are any. Slacken the mounting screws a little and pull the door away from the frame, make sure it sites square and tight, and then tighten up the mounting screws. With a freezer, i would also suggest fully defrosting it first.

My GE TFX22Z has served me well over the years. Recently, I noticed that the refrigerator side door has lowered about 3/4 of an inch when compared to the freezer side door. In other words, they no longer...

from the description given I came up with;
possibly the screws are lose on the top door hinge, the top or bottom hinge is worn, the door is warped or damaged.

Refrigerator door does not stay closed. There is nothing on the shelves that sticks out and puts pressure on the door from the inside. The refrigerator is about seven years old.

is there a sllight tip to the unit 1/4 of an inch towards the back to assist in closing the doors and keeping them shut.

Freezer door won't stay shut

This indicates that you do not have good airflow and return airflow between your freezer and refrigerator sections. That is why the pressure from closing one door is causing the other one to pop open.

Check the drain tube on the back of the machine to make sure it is not clogged or blocked with frozen water inside. Also check any return air flow vents inside the unit for clear ice.

Door on Monogram ZIR36N won't pull closed and stay shut

The spring is actually a door closure , are the wheels that the bar closure mechanism goes through and attaches to the spring moving freely? It is entirely possible that a bin in the fridge is keeping the door open.

Kenmore - over under

Adjust the feet to raise the front of the frige, which should be higher than the back. Therefore the weight of the door will keep it shut or at least cause it to shut itself if it pops open.
