My son's ds lite is doing this. Sent it back thought something wrong with the consol. However, it is the game. I think there is a lot of corrosion on the connections and he also tends to leave them on the floor etc. Does the WD 40 work???

I had the same problem on my sons DS. I sprayed the card on the electrical connection with WD-40 because I didn't have contact cleaner. I then inserted/ejected the card 5 or 6 times and now it works perfect! Problem solved....Good luck.

SOURCE: DS Lite - Game card recognition

there is an error with the ds itself, you will have to get it sent off for repairs or find a nearby gaming repair shop

SOURCE: nintendo DS not recognising R4DS CARD

Had this problem too. Solved it by cutting a small piece of thin card (cigerette box} or anything similar , and inserting it along with the r4 card to make it a tighter fit.Insert it in the back side of the r4 card, not the side with the metal contacts.hope this helps.

SOURCE: No DS card inserted and There is no gamepak

Problem Solved: Look into the socket where the cartridge is inserted and count the number of pins you see.
If it is less than 17, then you have a contact pin that has broken off or is bent to the point it can no longer be seen and is not making contact with the cartridge.
If you have warranty, take it back and have them replace the unit, if you don't have warranty you have to take the unit apart and replace the socket yourself. (WARRNING) if you have no experience with soldering, do not attempt this!
I have 30+ years in electronics and have taken these units apart, and have always found pins missing or bent over to the point of not making contact.
Hope this helps!

Hi Toria,

This problem is likely because the latest Nintendo based firmware doesn't actually support old R4 and fake R4i cards, only very specific R4i cards support it (namely the official R4i 3DS). You can probably swap your R4i card for a newer card like the Acekard 2i, Supercard DSTWO, Cyclo DS iEvolution, or frankly any of a number of cards that will work on the new DSi XL and 3DS consoles. I would personally recommend the Supercard DSTWO, though, I use it myself. It also has GBA emulation built-in which is kind of awesome if you want to play older games. The Acekard 2i is cheaper, but doesn't have the GBA functionality.

I'm not sure where you're based but if you're in the US, use "dsmagazine" as a voucher (I found this on an online DS news site) for DSCardWorld.com, they're authorised retailers of the Acekard and Supercard - I think also a few others. NDS-gear.com is probably better if you live in the Europe or in the UK though since they have cheaper shipping there. They still stock authentic cards so you should be all right either way.

Good luck, and please kindly upvote my answer if you've found it useful! :-)

Nintendo ds card

Obviously make sure that you are using the card properly but if you have had it for a while that's probably not even a question.

It sounds like the issue may be software related.Your DS probably needs to be repaired. If your DS is less than a year old, Nintendo will cover the cost of the repair. If the DS is older than one year, then you will probably have to pay $75 plus shipping and handling. Nintendo's number is 1800 255 3700.
