Konica Minolta Dimage Damage

My Konica Minolta Z6 digital camera now makes a whirring noise and blurred screen when it starts up. The top right nand corner of the LCD display is blacked out. I had the black out problem with the z3 and returned it and was sent the z6 just before the Konica MInolta stopped doing business. The Camera has been sat idle for around 2 weeks and has not been dropped, soaked or abused in any way.

Sounds like a similar problem with mine. Just turned it on after 3 weeks and getting a whirring noise on start up. I cant get any image out of it though. lcd and veiw finder black. Noise sounds like a drive motor, which puts it 'beyond economical repair'

Mine does that exact thing with the screen having a black corner, and loss of focus ability. Not sure how to fix, but looking into it.

I dropped my Z6 as well and now when I turn it on, both the LCD screen and the evf shake for about 5 secs. The other symptom is that about 5% of thr picture in the upper left corner is black. Called sony and they want $181 minimum with no guarantees to fix. BAH!

Yes, same problem with my Z6. It dropped from my lap and now it makes extra noise while starting, and LCD picture shakes for 5 seconds.

Looks like it works after that noise as I took 2-3 pictures and checked for clarity, those were clear.

I have kept it aside without batteries and card and going to check with Sony. I hope it is minor problem with hardware (gear mis-aligned or some rubber belt off).

I had the same problem with mine, a minor fall cracked this, I disassembled the unit and one of the springs that hold the main sensor was broken, thus the sensor vibrates instead of "floating" when the camera is turned on. There are two possible solutions: The first is to get a faulty Z6 from eBay and get the parts (the main sensor assembly) and have it replaced. (If you are not comfortable working with 1mm screws, you'd better go with the parts to a camera repair shop and explain them the problem. The second solution is un-elegant but useful: If you disconnect the anti-shake circuit from the main board you won't have the annoying vibration at start, and the focus will work properly. I've done this and I am happy with the result (I rarely used the anti-shake feature, so I don't miss it). For reference, the anti-shake circuit ribbon is the one entering the mainboard just under the left side of the screen.

Ejoy.....
PS. if you have dark spots, chech that the sensor assembly is not too out of place or that a piece of the broken assembly is on the way. Realign it in place (and please don't touch it). and asseble tha camera back

I dropped my Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6 and now when I turn it on, it will go off after about 2 seconds. It won't zoom and won't stay powered on. I can't take a picture or get the lens to zoom in or out. Can anyone help?

Does any sign appear on the LCD screen to indicate that the optical zoom has changed to the digital zoom?

Yes. The digital zoom is indicated by displaying 1.2x to 4.0x in yellow at the upper right corner of the LCD.
