The router continues to show up to 5 computers as on line, when they are not even with 2 of the 5 having the same mac address. this seems to be causing the security to fight what appears, itself. it takes one to 3 resets of the router to shake some off. why is this and what can i do to fix it please? #f5d7632-4 adsl modum with wireless router ? are there up dates offered to support this router?

Hello. I have wireless Router 802.11g / 2.4GHz. I have 3 PC i my house , but can only be on the internett with one of my computers. How can I set up my Router, so I can be on the Internett with all 3...

Sorry my anwser can be in spanish or english only.-
1.- All the conectivity devices, have a fisical address, and this is called "Mac Address", and is unique in the World.
2.- So,your wireless router have ones, and each computers too.
3.- The ISP (Internet Source Provider), only permit the Mac Address of the First computer only, and It know only this, so the Router Mac Address is unknow for they, and the rest of computers too.
4.- But, you can configure the firmware of the Router, so it show to the ISP the First Computer Mac Address allways, and this you can do in Items "Lan Configure" writing "Clone Mac Addres".-
5.- So, the ISP don`t see the Router MAc Address, always will see the Firts computer Mac Address, and the Router share the Internet Conectivity with other computers without problem.-
6.-For to configure the Router, in the browser you must write the followen Ip : 192.168.0.1 or samthing lake that, for this you must have conected your computer to the Router with an Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors.-
That is all.-
sincerely.-

Mac OSX 10.5 doesn't seem to work with Belkin model F5D7230-4

I get the feeling it is a security problem on your wireless access point. Try turning security off temporarily and see if the problem goes away.

The fact that you can connect to other networks tells me that your mac book network config is ok.

The reason the manual ip configuration doesn't work is because wireless connection connection has not succeeded. Kind of like not having the cable connected and expecting to find your DHCP server.

One thing that comes to mind and drove me completely insane once is your wireless network name (ssid) is case sensitive. So homenet is different from Homenet for example and you won't get any decent error messages.

With the security make it as simple as you can then slowly turn stuff back on (WEP and MAC filters for example) until it breakes again. Then you will know where your problem is.

Hope this helps.

Disable internet access

Access your router Setup page
Open internet explorer go to http://192.168.1.1 (default) username: admin (default) password: "leave it blank" (default)
Go to Security go to Filter
if you know that Ipaddress of the computer you want to block for example 192.168.1.10
You can create up to five different IP Address Range filters   Users who have  filtered  IP addresses will not be able  to  access the  Internet at all   If you only want to filter one  IP  address instead of a range of IP addresses, enter the same  value into both fields  For instance, if you wish to filter the  PC with  the  IP  address of 192 168 1 5, enter 5  into both  fields on one line: 192 168 1 5 ~ 192 168 1 5

if you know the MAC address of the computer click the Edit MAC Filter Setting and input the MAC address you want to block.
blocking by MAC address is the most effective solution to block a computer... while blocking by ip address will be easily bypass by changing the ip add of the pc

then saved your settings and reboot..

Signal found, but no connectivity

Try this. It should renew your configuration between your router and your internet provider:

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by typing in the IP address of the router (default:192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The username is admin (all lowercase) and the password is blank (nothing).

Note: The 192.168.0.1 address is NOT on the internet. It is the address to the router itself.

Step 2 Click the Home tab and click the WAN button. Dynamic IP Address is the default value, however, if Dynamic IP Address is not selected as the WAN type, select Dynamic IP Address by clicking on the radio button. Click Clone Mac Address. Click on Apply and then Continue to save the changes.

Step 3 Click on Status. Under WAN, Click DHCP Renew. If it does not get an IP address or times out, then continue with Step 4.

Step 4 Power cycle the cable modem and router:

Turn the cable modem off (first)
Turn the router off
Leave them off for 2 minutes**
Turn the cable modem on (first)
Wait until you get a solid cable light on the cable modem
Turn the router on
Wait 30 seconds

** If you have a Motorola (Surf Board) modem, leave off for at least 5 minutes.

Step 5 Follow Step 1 again and log back into the web configuration. Click the Status tab and click the Device Info button. If you do not already have a public IP address under the WAN heading, click on the DHCP Renew and Continue buttons.
If you're still getting no connection to the internet, another alternative (before chucking the router) would be to reset it to factory defaults, and run through the setup process again, from scratch.

Cheers

No internet when using router

Your modem has already registered itself with the MAC address of your computer, so it doesn't recognize the MAC of your router. In cases like this you have two options:
  1. Configure your router to clone the MAC of your computer
  2. Connect the router to your modem and do a soft reset so the modem registers itself with the MAC of your router.
Clone MAC - Go to your routers Admin web interface and on the main page you should see the "Router MAC Address" section at the bottom. Select "Use Computer MAC Address" and click "Apply" and your router should reboot and you'll be back in business.

Soft Reset
- Plug the modem into the router via the ethernet cable then do a soft reset.

To do a soft reset, do the following:
  1. pull the power cord from the modem
  2. count to 5
  3. hold down the Reset EMR button on the modem
  4. plug back in the power
  5. count to 30 while holding the Reset EMR button (the modem should be blinking a lot)
  6. release the Reset EMR button and see what happens.
