Blue stain on the image projected by my PLV-Z3

About a month ago my Z3 started projecting a blue stain down the right side of image. It seems to change shape somewhat and sometimes there is some image ghosting. I have cleaned the projector and checked the bulb. I am guessing the LCD panel is starting to go - D'oh!

I had this problem and yes it was the LCD

I had it fixed by Sany for about 400.00

I would get a PLZ-2000 IF I was to do this again rather than spend more money on the PLV-Z3

They said it was the use of the Keystone

    Good luck to you

Same thing, but add blue dots on the screen also. Sanyo want 600 to fix now. Thinking about buying a new Sanyo Z60 for 900 out the door. Any concerns with the Z60?

I had the exact same problem with my z3, Turnes out it was the blue filter.
I used the full service manual, and managed to fix mine using the diagrams, and troubleshooting section.

You can get the full service manual here.

Blue haze/fog all over screen

As it appears from the images that the images are fine. The sanyo PLV-Z2 is a LCD projector. So basically it projects 3 R G and B lights to make the screen. Yes it is definately not a LAMP issue. Either dust could have accumulated on the R and G panels thus leading to these prominent BLUE patches or if the LCD panels are damaged, u have to get the G or R replaced.. try running a application like Displaymate from "http://www.majorgeeks.com/DisplayMate_d4189.html" and see which of the panels is exactly responsible for the problem. I think this should sort it out.

You need to remove the cover and check where the lamp light is being attenuated in the optical path from the lamp to the front lens. I would try using a 12volt 50W halogen lamp in place of the real lamp and shine it into the optics system, and see where the brightness starts to go bad.

Green verticle line on right side of image

Your color convergence is out of adjustment. You can adjust yourself with a service manual telling you how, or take it to service shop and pay about $400.

with the projector off, remove the cover and unplug the blue lcd panel ribbon cable from the main board and reinsert it. you have to unlock the cable first (either the clip goes up or out, but do not force). if that does not solve the problem, you have a faulty lcd panel.

Sanyo PLV-Z3 Multimedia Projector problem

This could be due to one of the three filters that are easy to change - download the free pdf service manual - not the user manual - it is very descriptive and the filter is about $120 from Sanyo.
