HI I need help. I own a DCR DVD 201E Handycam which worked no problem using windows xp but now I've got Windows Vista the software won't work. I've been in touch in Sony and Pixela who make the Image Mixer software without any luck. Sony suggested that i got in touch with Microsoft to find out what driver I need to download but I tried that and still haven't received a response. Pixela and Imagemixer.net never got back to me. I've tried doing searches for the drivers both on the sony europe website and using google but there doesn't seem to be any vista drivers listed for my handycam model. Does anyone know where I can find the windows vista driver or where I can get an up-to-date Image Mixer software which is compatible with windows vista?
Hi,
I have the same problem; however there is a workaraound. If you plug your camcorder in to your usb drive and power on so that the Vista Plug 'n' Play can automatically install a driver for using as an external drive (bit like a usb stick)
When you go to my computer you will see an extra drive explore and see no files!
Well in the camcorder itself, there is a function to finalise the disc, perform this action and you should be able to see the files including the dvd menu files on the disc in my computer.
Drag and Drop to your computer. And use with what ever Software you want to.
This could also depend on the recording format you have set in the camcorder.
Hope this works for all.

Same problem with windows 7 and a DCR-DVD201E
the driver don't want to install : run the driver setup in windows xp compatibility mode admin mode, works well on windows 7, guess on vista too.
image mixer is really slow and crash most of the time, I don't have yet a solution because I can't find an update for the v 1.5
Image mixer 1.5 is fully functionnal on a windows 7 home premium after test, but have to get it in XP compatibility mode. (and probably admin too)
And you have to install the cam driver, if not, image mixer doesn't recognize the cam.
it seems that you have also to set the destination directory of the captured videos to another than program files, because after a test of copy, the video is not in the directory (maybe in virtual store?)
sony gives a remplacement software, but this model isn't listed in the list, seehttp://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/...

I am having the same problem. I have a Sony dcr-trv740 and I too believe it's a problem with Image Mixer and Vista. I have version 1.5 imagemixer and was looking online. I found a version 3.0 available for $60 or so (can't remember exactly). I have been in touch with Sony and also got no help. I'm still looking as well...

I have the same problem, I think it is more to do with IMAGE MIXER not being compatable with Vista at present. I'll keep looking, will let you know if I find any alternative software to use.
