Yeah pal, you've not gone deep enough yet. You'll find a power wire bare inside the unit, pull it apart and tape that wire up to stop it from grounding out and blowing the fuse.

I was in the process of changing from a 220 3 prong to a 4 prong. I initially got the wire colors crossed. This blew the main fuse, which I reset. I found the proper wire order, and the fuse does not blow...

You have 2 fuses. You may need to change them both. Also make sure you do not have circuit breakers. There will be two breakers also. Trip them all the way back and then forward.

Watching the TV and heard a "pop", it went dead. Opened up the back and found a blown 4A 125V fuse. Replaced fuse and plugged in TV. Fuse blew instantly when I plugged in the TV. Sylvania...

The power suply unit may be dead......if the fuse blows instantly it means that the main input is short.
possible parts damaged :the diodes from the mains, the power tranzistor and the ic from the primary part and other components around them.
First unplug the tv, unload the mains capacitor (using a light bulb) check all the diodes from the rectifing bridge, check for any shortened semiconductors or blow resistors.

Yes, apparently fuse is blow off. You need to take off back cover of TV and follow AC cord to reach on power supply board.
Get service manual from Manual Zone for small fee, if you need detailed technical info and schematics of TV.

Tv is pluged in,will not come on when on button is pushed

is the unit competly dead? no flashing lights.first unplug the set for 30 min then plug back up and try again if there is no lights then i suspect main fuse has blown. however this does not mean replaceing will fix. something has shorted to cause fuse to blow if there is flashing then the computer in the set has seen something wrong and shut down.
