Hi i'm planning to get an ipod touch soon but i want to make sure if the wifi works with my d-link N wireless router..so does it work with an N wireless router? i have the "DIR-628" model by the way and its called "rangebooster N dual band router" thank you!

Go into settings and look at the wireless section. Select the wireless connection that you normally use and try to connect. Tell us what happens from there.

Some possible causes might be:
- The password for the wireless router in your home network may have changed.
- If your home wireless router has recently been replaced, or if the iPod is trying to connect to an old or outdated connection, you may need to remove any non-working connections shown in settings and/or create a new connection to your home wireless router.

Re-creating the connection to your wireless router and making sure you have the correct password is the first step to solving this. If that doesn't help, give us more details on what happens when you try to connect (from within Settings).

what you can do try to put " password " as the password its wanting and see what it does or else delete all the already connected AP (Access Point) on your ipod touch and see what it does..

Yes you need wireless router to use wifi in ipod touch or on laptop.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method.
Then click on wireless and enable it.
. Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

how so via wireless it does not sync as far as i know the only way is to do thru the o.s along with either apple itunes if you dont like itunes there are plenty of other players that work with the ipod to hook up the ipod you have to set up the router to accept wireless conection look up setting up a wireless connection it is involved you have to make a secure pass word and key then the ipod has to be configured the same way

This is first assuming you are talking about an IPOD Touch. You first have to have wireless connectivity. Once you have wifi go to:

1. Touch Settings

2. Touch Wifi

3. Turn your Wifi ON

4. Select a Wifi network

5. Enter the WEP Key you have created on your router (assuming you have secured your network).

6. Hit Connect

Is your wireless network secured ?
If it is password protected then you will need to check the wireless settings of the router.Make sure that you are using the correct password to connect to the network.

I want to tell you that there might be two problems for your concern.

1. Your router is not working properly
2. Your Ipod Touch is not working properly

But it might be possible that both devices working fine just the compatibility issue.

First of all i can suggest you that you can upgrade the firmware for your router.

Then you can reconfigure your wireless setting on your router.

Then tried to put static ip on your ipod touch in the network setting option

IP address: 192.168.0.15
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Primary DNS: 192.168.0.1
Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.2

Then tried again to connect wirelessly with your ipod touch make sure you dont required to add mac address for you ipod touch and also you can click on the option called "Wireless Access Point"

Then you can see the option " Turn Access Control On" you can uncheck this option.

Try again i believe that will resolve your concern.

the router is not giving IP. restart the router to solve the issue.

from ipod delete this wifi network by right click and forget network. connect again.

Basically, all you have to do is turn the WIFI "on" on the iPod Touch. And it will connect to your wireless router. If you have a security key, it will ask you to type it in. See Pages 26 and 90 in the user's guide:
