Exit navigation, from the main menu select GPS reset, then restart navigation. if you do not get signals, you may have a failed antenna...

Finedrive 400's were manufactured by Navman over 8 years ago. Their maps are not supported for updated maps. Your unit could be having trouble identifying its location on an obsolete map.

My finedrive is not picking up an signal...it says waiting for gps signal and nothing happens.

some of the reasons a GPS cannot find signals..

1) BAUD rate and PORT are incorrect
2) GPS not in clear view of the sky
3) Battery is too low to receive signal.. Recharge using USB or AC charger before trip
4) Siirf chip is damaged from plugging in gps when starting the engine, this will damage the chip beyond repair

Having problem locating gps signal

try doing a GPS reset, exit navigation, tap on setup and go to gps reset, this may clear old almanac data from the gps receiver. if not, you may have one that is loosing its memory.

Finedrive 400 help

Finedrive is basically gone so dont count on support. looks like your firmware got corrupted, this can happen if you shut down the unit while its trying to write data to memory.

I have not seen this myself but other users reprot that the repair dvd I made can fix this, I will have one listed on ebay in the next week or so... just search for finedrive dvd.

Hi Frank,
I do have map files. I can send them to you if you give me your e-mail address. Total file size is about 1Gb.

We have noticed that the tech support numbers no longer work, I think the office closed. from your description I think you have to reload the firmware, the only way to do this is to get the upgrade dvd. if you email me at [email protected] I will see if I can help.

Finedrive 400 problem

first make sure your atenna is connected properly and that the pin in the antenna side of the connector is not damaged. if this looks fine, try using the reset GPS function, to get there, get into the menu, touch exit (top left of the screen) and click the green exit button, then from the mater menu, select setup and reset GPS.
leave the system on for about 5 minutes, it should re-adquire. if not, then you have either a faulty antenna or an internal problem. you can find external antennas on ebay.
